Cardinals vs. 49ers prediction, pick, odds, and how to watch the Week 9 game

What are the Cardinals vs. 49ers odds, our prediction, and what channel is the game on, or where can you stream this Week 9 matchup?

Based on the performances of these two franchises so far in 2021, only one prediction for this Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers matchup lines up. However, rarely are things that simple in the ultra-competitive NFC West. Let’s take a look at the current NFL odds, TV channel, how to live stream, as well as making a prediction for Cardinals at 49ers in Week 9.

Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers prediction and odds | Week 9

  • Spread: Cardinals -1
  • Moneyline: Cardinals -110, 49ers -110
  • Over/Under: 45
  • Odds from DraftKings sportsbook

The 49ers have struggled to a 3-4 record thanks to victories over weaker NFC teams. Their four losses also include a 17-10 defeat to this very Cardinals team back in Week 5. However, the fact they only lost by 7 on the road will give them hope that playing in San Francisco can foster an upset.

According to the sportsbooks, this will only be the second time this season that the 49ers have been an underdog. That first occasion came against the Cardinals. However, with a 2-5 record against the spread, the 49ers appear to have been overrated somewhat by sportsbooks. In fact, at home, they are 0-3 against the spread with a combined point differential of -21. Those numbers are alarming for anyone looking to bet on the 49ers this week.

The story for the Cardinals is quite different, making any prediction for this game lean towards Arizona. They are 6-2 against the spread this season, having covered in five straight between Weeks 3 and 7. They came agonizingly close to making that 7-1 in their last game and now come into this game with 10 days rest. The Cardinals are also 4-0 against the spread on the road this season.

Cardinals vs. 49ers prediction

When you compare these two teams side by side, the Cardinals are simply superior across almost all aspects. They rank in the top five in points scored and points allowed. Additionally, they are averaging nearly double the points scored per drive (2.81) than they allow (1.48). The problem is whether Arizona’s offense will be as potent if Kyler Murray is either restricted or missing this week.

However, there is one potential weakness the 49ers may exploit. The Cardinals are second to last in the league in yards per rush attempt (4.9). That plays nicely into the hands of the 49ers, who lean on the run to create their efficiency in the passing game.

If San Francisco can control the time of possession, they can pile the pressure onto whoever is the Cardinals’ QB. Still, they need a complete performance across the board to make that happen. If they can’t, it’s hard to see how they stop the Cardinals. San Francisco ranks among the worst teams in the leagues in terms of forcing turnovers, which has been another slight weakness of the Cardinals’ offense.

Assuming Murray is on the field and not completely limited, the Cardinals deserve their tag as marginal favorites. Yet, if Murray is badly compromised or not able to play at all, the 49ers have a chance to get a much-needed win here.

Prediction: Cardinals 24, 49ers 21
