Cam Ward Injury Update: Latest on the Titans QB and Whether He’ll Play in Week 4

Cam Ward popped up on the injury report on Wednesday with an ankle/calf injury. Here's the latest on his new injury and his status for Week 4.

It hasn’t been the start to the season that the Tennessee Titans were hoping for. After a tough season in 2024, they landed the No. 1 pick and selected QB Cam Ward as their future quarterback. Ward hasn’t helped turn their fortunes around just yet. He’s shown flashes of being the man to lead the Titans, but they sit at 0-3.

It’s getting even worse in the Titans as Ward was limited at Wednesday’s practice with an injury.

Will Cam Ward’s Ankle and Calf Injuries Affect His Week 4 Start for the Titans?

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Ward was on the injury report Wednesday with an ankle and calf injury. This injury limited him to Wednesday’s practice. It is a good sign that he didn’t miss practice completely and was able to participate in some capacity. There is no indication that this is a significant injury, and it could be a precautionary measure as Ward showed no concern about the injury during his media duties.

Ward’s injury doesn’t appear to it will affect his Week 4 status. The Titans must be careful with Ward, as his long-term health is very important, but this shouldn’t be a long-term issue. He should be suiting up as the Titans’ starting QB again, as he has been for the first three weeks of the season.

Ward has struggled to be the dominant force that he was at the University of Miami. His adjustment hasn’t been smooth, but it’s not solely because of Ward. Ward hasn’t been with only 506 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and a 54.5% completion percentage.

The offense is searching for answers on how to get the team going. The Titans decided on a new voice calling the plays, with head coach Brian Callahan relinquishing the duties to QB coach Bo Hardegree.

The Titans hope this will help unlock Ward’s full potential and finally settle into life in the NFL. It hasn’t been all doom and gloom in the Titans as Ward has delivered great throws and occasionally made nice plays. Now, they have to figure out how to get this production consistently on the offensive side of the ball as a unit. While Ward is meant to lead the offense, he can’t do it himself.

In Week 4, with a new playcaller in Hardegree and the 0-3 Houston Texans next up, the Titans could get their first win on the board. This would be huge for the confidence of the team and Ward specifically. Fans shouldn’t be too worried about Ward’s status as of now and should expect to see him on the field attempting to lead the team to victory.
