Amid the viral debate over Jalen Hurts' ranking, Cam Newton claps back at Terrell Owens for comparing his opinion to a “Skip Bayless” hot take.

Cam Newton recently sparked outrage online by saying he doesn’t believe Jalen Hurts is a top ten NFL quarterback. The comment angered many, including former Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens, who responded with criticism. Now, Newton has fired back at Owens, escalating the ongoing exchange.

Cam Newton Fires Back at Terrell Owens Over ‘Skip Bayless’ Comment in Jalen Hurts Debate

This entire saga began when Newton made the bold claim on his “4th and 1” podcast that he finds it hard to say Hurts is a top ten quarterback due to the amount of talent he has around him on the Eagles.

After Newton’s initial take, Owens responded in the comment section, calling it a “Skip Bayless type of statement.” He also took a shot at Newton’s infamous Super Bowl moment, where the former Panthers quarterback chose not to dive on a crucial fumble.

Newton isn’t letting Owens’ comments slide, once again taking to the “4th and 1” podcast and firing back at the Hall-of-Fame receiver.

“Terrell Owens, I can say so much about you, and I will not, because at the end of the day, we all know that you don’t have the best relationships with your quarterbacks,” Newton said. “Me being a quarterback, I’m just going to leave it at that.”

Newton is likely targeting Owens’ well-known feud with former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb. The two clashed during their two seasons together in Philadelphia, and Owens recently reignited the tension in December after McNabb weighed in on a dispute between  Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown.

The back-and-forth between Owens and Newton feels unnecessary, especially since Newton’s original take had little to do with T.O.

The former MVP didn’t even harshly criticize Hurts. His main point was that the Eagles quarterback doesn’t need to play at an elite level every week for Philadelphia to win. While that take is up for debate, Newton never said Hurts was a bad quarterback or lacking talent.

This whole situation is a clear sign that football needs to return soon, so debates like whether Jalen Hurts is a top-10 quarterback can take a back seat to actual games.

Still, it probably won’t end here. Owens will almost certainly respond to Newton’s latest comments, and the back-and-forth is likely to continue spiraling from there.
