Cam Newton Slams Shedeur Sanders for ‘Snobbish’ Attitude and Questionable Track Record

Newton opened by saying, “Shedeur, like first off, I got to hold him accountable, right? Travis Hunter is what we would think Shedeur is supposed to be. Travis Hunter is polished like a quarterback.”

He then took aim at Sanders’ demeanor, calling it unapproachable and performative: “Shedeur has always got this mean mug look on his face. Like he always snobbish looking, you know what I’m saying?”

Newton said he had met Shedeur multiple times and came away with the same impression: “He always in character for a reason. Like I got to portray like I’m hard.” He added, “My whole thing with Shedeur is this: What performance can you hang your hat on in college?”

Beyond personality, Newton focused on the challenge Shedeur now faces as he enters the NFL without the support system he’s always known. “It’s the first time in Shedeur’s life that, as a grown man, he’s not being coached by his dad, and that’s a lot of impact,” Newton said, referencing Deion Sanders, who coached Shedeur in college.

He also warned about how Shedeur might be perceived in the locker room: “There’s a meme that says Travis Hunter No. 12, and then they had No. 2, Deion’s son. Those types of things are gonna follow you in the locker room. Daddy ain’t gonna be able to save you, bro.”

While Newton acknowledged Shedeur’s success at the college level, he made it clear the standard has changed: “At the end of the day, dog, this is the big leagues. This is the league.”

Once seen as a first-round pick, Sanders slid all the way to the fifth round, taken No. 144 overall by the Browns. Reports suggest poor pre-draft interviews played a role in his fall.

In a show of support, fast-food chain KFC tweeted, “Sometimes all a Sanders needs is a little time to cook. Congrats Shedeur!!”

Despite the slide, Shedeur’s NFL journey is just getting started. But as Newton made clear, the league won’t tolerate style without substance.
