Following the 2025 NFL Draft, there’s plenty of exciting talent entering the league for the upcoming season. Among them is the two-way “generational talent,” Travis Hunter. The Jacksonville Jaguars traded up with the Cleveland Browns for the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to land Hunter.
This comes after the Saints landed Kelvin Banks Jr. in the first round and Tyler Shough in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, among other moves. Now, New Orleans Saints legend Cam Jordan recently sounded off on Hunter’s “generational” hype while questioning how Hunter will fare in a two-way role.
What Did Cam Jordan Say About Travis Hunter?
Hunter is arguably expected to be the most exciting player to watch in the 2025 NFL season. This is largely due to his two-way playing ability, performing exceptionally as both a wide receiver on offense and a cornerback on defense. Saints legend Cam Jordan recently joined ESPN’s “NFL Live” and discussed Hunter and how “special” he is.
“I mean why not,” Jordan said about Hunter playing on both sides of the ball. “He did it in college and he showed excellence. He was at the top of the best positions, at both DB and receiver. You could say the top.”

Hunter won the 2024 Heisman Trophy for his work at both wide receiver and cornerback. He managed to excel in both roles, finishing in the top five across the entire college football landscape.
He set a precedent for years to come with his fantastic showing on both offense and defense in every game. He intrigued NFL teams with his special play, which is why he managed to get picked so high in the 2025 NFL Draft.
“I just need to know what position he’s starting at,” Jordan continues. “Like, if you say DB, then you have to limit your reps at wide receiver. And if you say wide receiver, then you have to limit your reps at DB. Do I think that he has 120 snaps in him? Yes. For a season? Probably. For 10 years? Absolutely not.”
“Hey, look, I attribute most of my success to not having to do that rookie stuff. I mean, I came in and played. He’s got like four months of rookie stuff that they have to get into. And then they have a long season ahead of them. And you’re telling me he’s playing not only on offense, but on defense, too? That’s going to be special. I don’t know if I’m ever going to label it generational, but I’m going to label it special.”
Hunter made waves with his play on the college football field. Not only did he excel as a wide receiver and a defensive back, but he logged over 1,483 combined snaps in his final college season. This significantly helped him win his 2024 Heisman Trophy.
Through all of this, Hunter became one of the most-talked-about college prospects in recent memory. The upcoming 2025 NFL season looks to be an exciting one. For Hunter, he will test himself at the NFL level as a two-way player for the first time and see if he can continue to make magic at the professional level.
