Calls Mount for Buccaneers To ‘Fire Todd Bowles’ As NFL World Argues He ‘Has To Go’

The Buccaneers missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2019 season. Fans are calling for head coach Todd Bowles to be fired.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers did their job in Week 18. They beat the Panthers, but the Saints didn’t do their job, and the Panthers clinched the NFC South title. The Buccaneers had dominated the NFC South, although perhaps not as much as one might think, winning the division title for four straight seasons before 2025. After a hot start, the Buccaneers collapsed, and fans called for head coach Todd Bowles to be fired.

NFL Fans Want Todd Bowles Fired

Buccaneers fans have just about had it with Bowles. They may have won the division in three of their four seasons, but they never had 10+ wins more than once.

They won the division at 9-8, 8-9, and 10-7 throughout his tenure. This season, 8-9 couldn’t get them the division title.

With poor coaching decisions throughout the year, NFL fans have ripped into him on social media and are now calling for his job.

“Fire Todd Bowles. I don’t care about the excuses. I don’t care about the injuries. I don’t care about the lack of depth and talented pass rushers. I don’t wanna scared football coach coaching my football team anymore,” said one fan.

The Buccaneers did deal with a plethora of offensive injuries. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Bucky Irving, and Jalen McMillan all dealt with multi-week absences.

But the Buccaneers weathered these issues early before collapsing late in the season. The collapse featured losing seven of their last nine games. It’s tough to justify a return for Bowles, especially with many of the players returning during this stretch.

“I truly respect and love Todd Bowles the man. But IMO, he should be fired,” said a fan.

The Buccaneers didn’t capitalize on the opportunities they had. They left it up to other teams to decide their fate and paid the price. One fan believes the Bucs deserved to miss the playoffs for banking on the Saints to get them in.

“That’s what happens when you leave your playoff fate to a Saints-Falcons garbage game. Time for a new chapter in Tampa Bay. Todd Bowles has to go,” said one fan.

The Buccaneers have a decision to make. Bowles has been in contention with this team during all four years, but never really had a high ceiling in the postseason. Now, after missing it, fans are challenging the higher-ups to make the bold call to fire Bowles.

“In the coming days, we’ll find out if the Glazers are ready to move the Bucs into the future, or if they prefer to remain stuck in the past,” said one fan.

The same fan chimed in about a potential risky hire, “No risk-it, no biscuit. I’d rather the Glazers take a swing for the fences and bank on Scheelhaase’s upside as a future HC than run it back w/Bowles again. Better to be a year early than a year late.”

Nathan Scheelhaase is an offensive assistant for the Rams. It would be a bold leap to transition from an assistant to a head coach in the NFL.

However, this fan is willing to take a chance rather than play it safe and end up with a coach like Bowles.

There will be plenty of eyes on whether the Buccaneers decide to move on from Bowles. Black Monday takes the jobs of many coaches across the NFL, and we’ll see if Bowles becomes one of the unlucky coaches to lose their job on Black Monday.
