On fourth-and-4 with less than 20 seconds left in the game, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams uncorked a touchdown to Cole Kmet with multiple defenders in his face to send the game into overtime.
Regardless of how the game ends in overtime, Williams’ heroics got the Bears to that point. With the absurd touchdown throw, social media exploded with praise for the sophomore quarterback.
NFL World Goes Crazy as Caleb Williams Sends Rams vs. Bears Game Into Overtime
Immediately, as the throw left Williams’ hand and landed in Kmet’s, social media erupted. The play was so outrageous that it almost felt fitting that Williams was the one to pull it off.
Mike Garafolo posted, “How do they keep doing it? How does he keep doing it? Outrageous.”

Albert Breer echoed the sentiment. Williams has taken plenty of criticism for things that are often unwarranted, so it was fitting to see him get his flowers. Breer posted, “Caleb Williams is a magician. That’s a 60-yard throw.”

Every aspect of the throw was remarkable — from Williams even getting it off to doing so with the stakes attached to the play. NFL insider Tom Pelissero summed it up simply, commenting, “That dude is not real.”

Green Bay Packers reporter Matt Schneidman backed it up as well, posting, “This dude is unbelievable.”

Will Compton simply posted a picture of himself. There were no words or captions, but the reaction needed no explanation, as many fans likely made the same face watching Williams’ throw.

There are very few players in the NFL capable of making that throw, and certainly none as young as Williams. Between evading pressure and delivering the ball precisely where he knew Kmet would be, everything about the play felt like a fairytale. That made it understandable when NFL reporter Charles Robinson posted, “Caleb Williams may not be human.”
The Bears have enjoyed a magical season. Last year, they finished 5-12, and much of the criticism fell on Williams, including labels calling him a bust. However, in the first year under Ben Johnson, the team turned things around, improving to an 11-6 record and earning the second seed in the NFC playoff picture. With their postseason performance, the Bears are putting themselves on the map and look poised to be contenders for the next several seasons.
