‘Leave Medicine to Experts’ — Buccaneers Reporter Exchanges Words With Fantasy Football Doctor Over Mike Evans’ Injury

As everyone worried for his health, the injury to Mike Evans led to a shocking fight between a fantasy football doctor and a Buccaneers beat reporter

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had to battle a ton of injuries on their way to a 5-1 start, making their standing atop the NFC all the more impressive. However, in a game against the Detroit Lions where they could potentially give up that position, the night did not start how the team may have intended.

After falling behind early, they were then dealt a massive blow as superstar wide receiver Mike Evans went down in a heap trying to make an explosive catch to awaken the Buccaneers offense. Right after, a fantasy football doctor broke down what may have went wrong for Evans on social media. But, his guess led to the beginning of a weird public feud between the doctor, who was proven correct, and a beat reporter for Tampa Bay.

How Did Mike Evans’ Injury Spark a Social Media Fight?

Right after Evans went down trying to make the catch, he lay on the field for a while. Returning to the lineup after nursing a hamstring injury the past three games, it was hard to imagine what could have gone wrong for the veteran pass catcher.

However, Jesse Morse, a supposed doctor on social media took to X to declare, “Mike Evans. Primary concern is a concussion but also worried about his right shoulder. Classic mechanism for an AC sprain, although his clavicle could have been fractured, that’s less likely since he wasn’t favoring it at all.”

While the exact details of his injury weren’t confirmed, Evans was carted to the locker room, with the game broadcast officially announcing that he was out for the game with a shoulder injuy and a concussion.

With Morse’s asessment seemingly on the right track, he called out a beat reporter for the Buccaneers, Greg Auman, who covers the team for Fox Sports, “How’d I do @gregauman?”

Auman, on his end, did not take any flack from Morse, firing back with, “Just keep guessing and highlight when you’re right, doc!” Seemignly taken aback by the response, the self-professed M.D. had a blistering reply for the former The Athletic writer.

“Greg I’m a double-board certified physician. You’re a beat reporter. You have zero medical training. Leave the medicine to the experts.”

Trying to make the situation go away, Auman diffused the situation by stating, “I don’t pretend to know. That’s the difference. You’re doing well doing what you do – no need to waste time with non-doctors like me.”

It’s unclear if the beef between the two parties has existed for a while. But with the sort of instigation that Morse had on his original post, it is hard to imagine a scenario where the two haven’t crossed paths before.
