NFL Insider Names 3 Candidates for Buccaneers To Replace Josh Grizzard After Tampa Bay Fires OC

Three top candidates are named to potentially replace Josh Grizzard as the Buccaneers' offensive coordinator after he was fired.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are making a major change to their coaching staff during the 2026 NFL offseason. They recently announced that they are firing offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard under head coach Todd Bowles. An NFL insider then named three of the key names to watch as some of the top candidates to replace him.

Top Candidates To Replace Josh Grizzard As Buccaneers OC

The Buccaneers suffered a massive collapse in the second half of the 2025 NFL season that resulted in them missing the playoffs after having a commanding lead in the NFC South divisional standings. Some speculated that this could lead them to fire Bowles, but at least for now, he has retained his job as their head coach.

The same can’t be said for Grizzard, as the offensive coordinator was officially fired on Thursday, immediately following their disappointing Week 18 conclusion. NFL insider Ian Rapoport followed up the news with a report on who three of their top potential candidates to replace him could be.

“A few key names to watch for the Bucs OC job that has, in previous years, led to OCs becoming HCs: Rams passing game specialist Nathan Scheelhaase, Ravens OC Todd Monken, Falcons OC Zac Robinson,” reported Rapoport.

Baker Mayfield significantly regressed during the course of the 2025 season, which heavily contributed to their disastrous finish, which included losing seven of their final nine games. He was a legitimate MVP candidate through the first half of the season, but eventually finished just 24th in PFSN’s NFL QB Impact Rankings among all quarterbacks.

This likely played a role in the Buccaneers’ decision to fire Grizzard as they now enter the market for a new offensive coordinator to replace him. Rapoport named three interesting candidates that could potentially be available to them as they look to get their offense going back in the right direction.

Nathan Scheelhaase currently works under Sean McVay on the Los Angeles Rams in one of the best offenses in the NFL. A promotion to become an offensive coordinator may be something he desires, and potentially pairing with Mayfield on the Buccaneers could be a desirable situation.

The other two names mentioned, Todd Monken and Zac Robinson, are with teams that fired their head coaches at the conclusion of the 2025 season, so they could surely be on the move as well amid the changes.

John Harbaugh was let go by the Baltimore Ravens, while Raheem Morris was fired by the Atlanta Falcons, so Monken and Robinson are legitimate offensive coordinators to keep a close eye on.
