The Tampa Bay Buccaneers snuck their way into the postseason with a 10-7 record last season, and that was enough for the team to decide on Todd Bowles. Not just that, but Tampa Bay also decided the fate of GM Jason Licht, who has been with the team since 2014. His longevity passes that of Bowles, who has been the head coach since 2022.

Buccaneers Extend the Contracts of Todd Bowles and Jason Licht
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Buccaneers have signed Bowles and Licht to multi-year contract extensions.
Entering his fourth season with the team, Bowles will look to win four consecutive NFC South titles. While 10-7 may have been a disappointment last year, it’s clear that the Bucs have sole possession of their division. Two years ago, they won it by going 8-9. That was Bowles’s first year as head coach, just two seasons after Bruce Arians won a Super Bowl with Tom Brady.
Regardless, 2024 was the team’s last 10-win season since they went 13-4 in 2021. Bowles has consistently improved in his three years as head coach, winning one more game in each season. Offensive coordinator changes come at a premium in this organization, but Bowles and Licht always seem to find an answer.
This year, that answer is Josh Grizzard. Baker Mayfield will again have a new OC as the Buccaneers quarterback looks to continue building on his fantastic 2024 campaign. This got the attention of Licht, who knows his three-year contract will end soon. For the Bucs GM, he will enter his 12th season with the team, which is the fifth-longest tenure across the league.
With everything that went down with Liam Coen in the offseason, Tampa Bay would’ve loved a date with the Jacksonville Jaguars on their 2025 schedule.

Instead, they’ll open the season on the road in Atlanta and Houston. The Buccaneers play at Raymond James Stadium for the first time on September 21 as the New York Jets come to town.
Bowles wasn’t necessarily in the hot seat, but it’s safe to say the team knows their ceiling with him in charge. Buccaneers fans will look to win their first playoff game since January 15, 2024. Winning one playoff game would improve the 2025 season, but they’re looking to run the table like they did in 2020.
The 2020 season remains an oddity due to COVID-19, but it was the last time they won multiple playoff games in a season.
Having been with the team since 2019, it’s safe to say Bowles has gained quite a bit of respect in the organization. He came in as the defensive coordinator before being promoted to head coach after three seasons. This is Bowles’ second stint as a head coach for an NFL team, with his first being for the New York Jets from 2015-18.
