The narrative around Shedeur Sanders has been anything but smooth over the last few months. Yet despite all the ups and downs, the love and care he has for his community have only grown stronger.
After being drafted in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns, 50 picks after Dillon Gabriel, Sanders has consistently shown up for Cleveland fans, visiting schools and connecting with the community.
How Is Shedeur Sanders Winning Over Cleveland at the Garden Valley Fun Fest?
The Rainbow Terrace Apartments recently suffered an explosion and fire, which forced over 40 residents to evacuate. On Wednesday, an event was organized to support those families at the Garden Valley Fun Fest, which featured food trucks and free haircuts, among other things.
Sanders showed up to help and lift the spirits of the affected families at the event.
While he could just have donated money, Sanders believes those things are easy. Spending time with the community and understanding their conditions is more impactful for him.

“When everything transpired I was out of town, so I was like the first thing I do when I come back is definitely come to the community…God told me to come out here, so I’m never going to question his word,” he said.
“Sending money and stuff, that is easy, but you have to actually go out there and be in the flesh. I feel like that’s more impactful,” Sanders added.

Sanders was spotted interacting with the young kids and their families while also sharing football tips with them, drawing high praise from the fans online.
“Boots on the ground…doing the real work. Making the connections. Well done, Shedeur,” a fan wrote.
“There isn’t a lot of players doing visits in the inner city. The East side gonna ride for Sheduer. Coming down to the bricks & getting in the trenches means a lot,” another fan wrote.
What Does Sanders’ Community Work Mean for His Browns Future?
Sanders’ humility and the ability to connect with fans will always draw more support for him to become the Browns’ starter, but it’s still a long road for the former Colorado star. He is locked in a four-way quarterback competition and, as a rookie, needs to prove that he can also be the face of the Browns organization on the field.
The quarterback has been one of the main focuses of the NFL during the offseason and has made positive headlines with some reportedly impressive performances in camp. That momentum with the press was halted, though, by his speeding incidents.
However, what will eventually matter is how Sanders performs in training camp. He is in a firm position to be a backup quarterback now, and whether he can better Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco for the starting job in Week 1 remains to be seen.
