The Cleveland Browns added to their running back room by selecting Quinshon Judkins from the Ohio State Buckeyes with the 36th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Browns are looking to boost their offensive depth as they aim to improve on that side of the ball.
According to Ourlads’ depth chart for Cleveland, the Browns now have three running backs under contract: Judkins, Jerome Ford, and Pierre Strong Jr.
The Browns finished dead last in the NFL with just a 56.0 Offensive+ grade per PFSN. Now, the hope is they have the building blocks to start turning things around.
Deion Sanders Jokes About the Browns’ Quarterback Situation
The Browns were one of the teams seemingly in position to draft a quarterback, even after their offseason moves. After Deshaun Watson suffered a ruptured Achilles, Cleveland traded with the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire Kenny Pickett and also signed Joe Flacco as an unrestricted free agent.
Still, there’s a clear need for a long-term answer at the position, and Shedeur Sanders was one of the players they could have targeted. Instead, the Browns traded the second overall pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars and later selected defensive tackle Mason Graham with the fifth pick of the first round.
Meanwhile, Sanders chose not to attend the draft in Green Bay and instead hosted his own draft party. During the event, Deion Sanders jokingly took a shot at the Browns’ quarterback situation.
Deion added that he likes Flacco, but joked about their ages — Flacco is 40, while Deion is 57.
Either way, Cleveland was considered a possible landing spot for Shedeur Sanders, but he wasn’t selected in the first round. Instead, quarterbacks Cam Ward and Jaxson Dart went off the board on Thursday, and Tyler Shough was picked by the New Orleans Saints early in Round 2.
It’ll be interesting to see what Cleveland decides at quarterback for the 2025 season. They could choose to ride it out with their current room and look to address the position in the 2026 NFL Draft. Either way, the Browns are hoping their offense finally takes a step forward.
For Shedeur, meanwhile, the list of potential QB-needy teams who might draft him is growing shorter and shorter. It remains to be seen when and where the Colorado quarterback will be drafted.
Despite rumors that he could be drafted as early as Round 1, none of the teams he was tied to decided to call his name.
