WATCH: Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Vows To Never ‘Lose the Target I Have On My Back’ in Viral Gatorade Ad

Falling to the 144th pick in the 2025 NFL draft, Shedeur Sanders could’ve made more money by staying in college. He had no idea he would fall to the fifth round of the draft, and he fell to the Cleveland Browns, who have yet to find their permanent quarterback. It was a long time coming for Sanders to hear his name, but it didn’t take long for him to land a commercial with Gatorade.

Shedeur Sanders Stars in Gatorade Commercial

In a commercial that focuses on an orange Gatorade at first, Sanders is seen in the distance throwing footballs. He hits the target with all eight of his throws as the balls land in the net. Sanders is talking through the entire commercial, “Lose time, lose friends, lose nights, lose mornings, lose more sweat than I knew I had, but lose the target I have on my back, nah.”

The description of the commercial reads, “Shedeur Sanders didn’t get to where he is without losing a lot of sweat along the way. And he’s never taken the legendary name on his back lightly.”

With Gatorade focusing on the “Is It In You” campaign, Sanders was the latest professional athlete to take part in one of their commercials. This one took place in an empty arena, with Sanders’s voice being the main focal point. His main line in the commercial was clearly, “Lose the target I have on my back, nah.” That target is a big one, especially as he looks to prove all his doubters wrong, as he was selected rounds later than expected.

The Browns still made it a priority to select Sanders as they traded their 166th and 192nd picks to go up and get him. He recently made it official by signing a four-year, $4.6 million deal. To put that rookie contract into perspective, he was rumored to be making $6.5 million during his time at Colorado. Either way, it was time for the 23-year-old to move on, and what happened in the draft was out of his control.

Sanders had numerous achievements during his college career, most notably when Colorado decided to retire his #2. Sanders won’t be wearing #2 on the Browns; instead, he’ll be wearing #12. DeAndre Carter has #2 on the Browns, but it’s a number that Sanders could get back to eventually. At this point, he needs to prove himself in a quarterback class with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Deshaun Watson.
