Browns Predicted to Select 17-TD WR in 2026 NFL Draft to Prioritize Shedeur Sanders’ Development

Browns draft buzz heats up as a new projection links Cleveland to a 17-TD USC wide receiver to help develop Shedeur Sanders.

Cleveland finds itself at a pivotal moment. After a season that fell apart in the second half, the Browns are rethinking their strategy for building around their young offense. With the 2026 NFL Draft on the horizon, one new projection hints at a bold commitment to supporting whoever lines up under center next fall.

The idea is simple. Strengthen the offense, add some firepower. And give the quarterback no excuses.

A Mock Draft Projection to Support Potential Browns Franchise Quarterback Shedeur Sander

According to Reese Decker of PFSN, the Cleveland Browns could use their first-round pick on Makai Lemon, the explosive wideout from the USC Trojans.

Decker’s reasoning is direct. “Providing support for Shedeur Sanders, or whoever is under center, is priority No. 1,” he wrote. In his projection, Lemon becomes the centerpiece addition after Cleveland already addressed the offensive line earlier in the draft.

Decker described Lemon as a “blue-collar, gritty receiver with dynamic run-after-the-catch ability.” He added that Lemon is “strong, fearless, and can serve as a reliable security blanket for a second-year quarterback.” That profile fits what Cleveland lacked throughout the 2025 season.

Lemon’s track record speaks volumes. He was the 2025 Biletnikoff Award winner after a dominant year at USC. He caught 137 passes for more than 2,000 yards and scored 16 touchdowns in his college career. He led the Big Ten in all three categories. Few prospects enter the draft with that level of production and consistency.

For the Browns, the need is crystal clear. Their passing game struggled to create separation or make big plays. Whether it’s an end zone catch or swift rushing, a balanced middle ground will give the team its advantage.

Jerry Jeudy topped the team with just 602 receiving yards, and no other wideout managed to break the 350-yard mark. This lack of offensive firepower put the team under pressure, leading to risky throws. Sanders ended up with 10 interceptions in just eight starts as defenses tightened up in the short areas of the field.

Nothing is locked in. Lemon could land anywhere. Cleveland could still pivot toward drafting a quarterback if doubts remain about the position. But selecting him would send a loud message. It would suggest faith in Sanders’ development and a plan to build around him with elite weapons.

General manager Andrew Berry has promised change. The draft will reveal how deep that commitment runs. If Lemon is the pick, Cleveland’s future may suddenly look far more defined.
