It has been an extremely busy offseason for the Cleveland Browns. After another year without a playoff appearance, their superstar defender, Myles Garrett, went public with a trade demand. However, the organization was able to entice him with the largest contract for a non-quarterback in NFL history. Since then, their focus has been on the quarterback situation.
Thanks to Deshaun Watson’s injury, the Browns have four players competing for a chance to earn the QB1 designation. But before the season gets underway, one analyst has a different pathway for Cleveland to become perennial playoff contenders. In a full-circle moment, he wants the franchise to take advantage of a different superstar defender’s trade demand.
Could the Cleveland Browns Build a Superstar Duo With Myles Garrett?
It took a four-year deal worth $160 million to keep Garrett in Cleveland. However, with the former Defensive Player of the Year itching for consistent postseason action, the Browns are going to have to satisfy his craving.
Finding the right quarterback is the direction they’re understandably taking. However, Eric Edholm for the NFL believes they could also enter their name in the Micah Parsons sweepstakes. One of the most productive edge rushers since coming into the league in 2021, Parsons is potentially headed for an ugly exit from the Dallas Cowboys.
After tallying 12 or more sacks in each of his first four seasons, while earning a Pro Bowl each year, the Cowboys are yet to extend the superstar defender. For comparison, seven players from his and next year’s draft have already signed their first extension.
However, franchise owner and general manager Jerry Jones’ wrongfully criticizing his talent publicly has soured the relationship between the player and the organization. As a result, Parsons made his trade demand and confirmed that he had handed the request directly to Stephen Jones.
As a result, in his list of trade destinations for Parsons, Edholm argued the Browns were a lucrative choice for both sides. With two first-round picks in next year’s draft, they have the assets to potentially lure the Cowboys.

“But for a team possibly turning to a young QB this year, or someone else next year, there’s justification for loading up on defense. A Parsons-Garrett pass-rush duo would also be borderline unfair, potentially one of the best pairings ever.”
It might not be the direction most anticipated from the Browns this summer, especially after Garrett’s trade demand, but it is a scenario that could very well become a reality in Cleveland.
