NFL Analyst Identifies Browns’ Biggest Weakness After a ‘Fascinating’ 2025 NFL Draft

General manager Andrew Berry and the Cleveland Browns brass may have been the busiest unit across all of the NFL last weekend. The Browns’ 2025 NFL Draft will be remembered for massive trades, jaw-dropping selections, and even gaining an extra first-round pick in next year’s draft.

Cleveland now holds one of the most unique quarterback rooms in the NFL. With Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Deshaun Watson, and now Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, the starting job is anyone’s for the taking. Surely, when Myles Garrett said he “had an idea” of who the Browns’ starting QB would be nearly a month ago, this is not what he meant. Regardless, the Dog Pound now has options, but to which position’s demise?

QB Competition Leaving More To Be Desired Elsewhere?

Sure, Cleveland’s healthy QB competition and positional depth will be a strong suit for the Browns entering 2026. However, who will the quarterbacks be throwing to? PFSN’s Sterling Xie sees the Browns’ biggest weakness at the pass-catcher positions.

“The Browns did add Harold Fannin Jr. at tight end, and the Bowling Green product could team with David Njoku. Still, tight end is a position where most rookies aren’t huge contributors, and Fannin felt more like a pick for the future with Njoku in the final year of his contract. That doesn’t rule him out as a meaningful player in 2025, but asking Fannin to be the No. 3 target right away feels like a stretch.

“The Browns could get a more sustained stretch of starter-level play from Cedric Tillman or Jamari Thrash, but now that hope becomes a must. Even if Dylan Sampson helps out in the passing game, not adding a wide receiver at all feels like a miss.”

Browns Reliant on Two Main Pass Catchers in 2024

Cleveland’s “miss” at WR leaves them with Jerry Jeudy and the aforementioned Njoku as the club’s main targets once again. In 2024, Njoku led the team in receiving touchdowns (five) despite participating in just 11 games. Jeudy led the squad in receiving yards thanks to his late-season burst. Here, he put up his first ever 1,000-plus yard season, recording 1,229.

Free agent Elijah Moore remains a question mark for Berry and Browns management. Moore was the only other pass catcher in 2024 to come close to Jeudy and Njoku’s numbers.

With running back Nick Chubb a free agent as well, Cleveland has plenty question marks at key skill positions. While the QB room may be solved (or not), there remains gaping holes for the Browns that will likely set them back in a talented AFC North once again.

  1. My comment is about the on going smearing of Shedur Sanders. Read an article that indicated Browns owner may have insisted the Browns take him rather than it being Berry and Stefanski’s idea. They sure did not seem happy on the phone call and were disgustingly unenthusiastic with him. I can see a sabotage coming as those two want to prove they were right. It is sickening. Those two already showed how good they are at qb evaluations with the worst trade ever. Unbelieveable either has a job at this point. I feel sorry Sanders got stuck with them. He deserves better.
