In the NFL divisional round, the Denver Broncos overcame the Josh Allen-led Buffalo Bills and won a tight game in overtime. This was a massive win for the Broncos, but after the game, that’s where the good news stopped.
After the win, coach Sean Payton informed reporters that star quarterback Bo Nix would require surgery and would be out for the rest of the playoffs.
Broncos QB Bo Nix Speaks on His Injury for the First Time
Since the injury news, there has been an exceptionally large amount of conversation about it because of how much it impacts the Broncos’ Super Bowl chances this season. Still, Nix, understandably, did not speak about the devastating injury until today.
Nix went to Instagram to share a message to the public adressing his injury:
“The last few days have been hard to put into words,” he said. “What started as one of the most exciting games I’ve ever been a part of ended with some of the most devastating football news I’ve ever received. This is not how I imagined my season would come to an end, but our season has been defined by overcoming adversity and responding to it.”
Nix emphasized how much the team and organization mean to him, saying he is proud of his teammates, confident in backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham, and excited for what comes next. He thanked fans for their support and credited his trainers for their care.
“Thank you all for the kind words, love and support over the last few days. Thankful for my trainers, Beau, Vince and Dr. Waldrop for taking great care of me. God never says oops, and he is always good. He has big plans for this team. We’re not finished, as a matter of fact we’re just getting started. We’re just going to keep climbing higher. Go Broncos.”

To say this was horrible news for Broncos fans, the team, and Nix is an understatement. This entire season, Denver looked like it could be Super Bowl-bound, and to give the roster credit, it still could be.
Payton has confidence in Stidham to take over for Nix and try to fill the void left due to the injury, and it could very well happen. Instead of the Broncos being the favorites, it’s going to be an uphill battle this weekend. Denver will face the New England Patriots, and the winner will be on the way to the Super Bowl.
