Christian McCaffrey just became a dad, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. The San Francisco 49ers running back and his wife, model Olivia Culpo, welcomed their first child, Colette Annalise, into the world just days before McCaffrey heads back to work.

The couple announced their pregnancy in March and have been flooded with congratulatory messages.

Now that baby Colette is here, the congratulations are pouring in, with McCaffrey’s teammate Brock Purdy’s wife, Jenna, commenting “Awwwwww congrats” with multiple love heart emojis on Instagram.
But before they became a family of three, there was just Christian and Olivia building something special.
Their story started with a blind date in spring 2019 after mutual friends played matchmaker. The connection was instant. By October, Olivia was already wearing CMC’s Panthers jersey to games, showing her support for her new boyfriend.
That same year brought another milestone when Olivia posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition. McCaffrey expressed his support for her career, showing early signs of the partnership they’d build together.
Their romance blossomed over the next four years with meaningful moments that showed their commitment. In June 2020, they added a furry family member, getting a dog named Oliver Sprinkles. The following year, McCaffrey made his feelings clear by naming his boat “Olivia”.
The proposal came during an April 2023 getaway in Utah. McCaffrey popped the question, and Olivia flashed her engagement ring in a joint Instagram announcement that sent fans into celebration mode.
Before walking down the aisle, Olivia shared her deep thoughts on marriage with Vogue. “It’s a covenant. It’s the beginning of the rest of your life, and it’s the union and bond of two people forever,” said the model and former Miss Universe.
McCaffrey and Culpo married on June 29, 2024, in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. The ceremony took place at the Ocean House chapel and featured personal touches like hydrangeas and chilled lobster rolls. They kept things intimate with a phone-free ceremony.
Olivia wore a stunning Dolce & Gabbana dress and told Vogue, “Christian and I felt our wedding weekend starts our life together as a family. I wanted everything to feel intimate but also include the gravitas of the moment.”
Even their everyday life together shows their playful dynamic. According to People Magazine, their biggest debate was car music. McCaffrey is a huge country music fan, but as he tells People, “I get control for about two songs, and then that’s usually her limit, and that’s when she changes it to whatever she wants to listen to.”
However, pregnancy changed everything. McCaffrey gave up the music battle, admitting that classical music is better for the baby and letting Olivia take over the playlist. “She likes classical music. Her whole family’s very, they’re all classically trained musicians, and so that’s what she grew up listening to,” says McCaffrey.
The whirlwind of getting married and becoming parents has been overwhelming in the best way. McCaffrey told People that it’s all been “kind of a blur.”
Now McCaffrey gets a few precious days to soak up being a new father before reality kicks in. He reports to training camp with the 49ers on July 22 in Santa Clara, California, where he’ll shift focus back to football while adjusting to life as a dad.
