The 20-member board, made up of athletes, cultural icons and investors, will focus on marketing, branding, fan engagement and player initiatives beginning in 2026.

Patrick Mahomes’ Mother’s Reaction to Brittany’s Accomplishment
Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi Mahomes, celebrated Brittany Mahomes’ achievement by resharing the announcement on her Instagram story.

Patrick also shared the same announcement news on his story, celebrating his wife’s win.

The NWSL advisory board will serve as mentors and cultural connectors, helping expand the league’s reach through campaigns, partnerships and innovative fan engagement. Other advisory board members include Sue Bird and Eli Manning for Gotham FC, Chris Paul and USWNT legend Julie Foudy for Angel City FC, Brandi Chastain and Sabrina Ionescu for Bay FC and Lindsey Vonn for Utah Royals FC.
Commissioner Jessica Berman said that the group will meet twice a year starting in 2026 to identify growth opportunities across the league.
“When we looked across our clubs’ investor base, we realized how fortunate we are to have such an extraordinary group of cultural icons, athletes, and leaders who believe, and have invested, in the power and potential of this league,” Berman said in a statement, via foxbusiness.com. “Their experience and influence will be instrumental as we continue building not just a league, but a movement, one that redefines entertainment and what’s possible in sports.”
Brittany, a former soccer player with collegiate and professional experience, has been behind the Kansas City Current, the professional women’s soccer team she co-owns with her husband. She played college soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler, scoring a record 18 goals in her senior season, and later competed professionally in Iceland for IBV Vestmannaeyjar. She co-founded the Current alongside Chris and Angie Long, with Patrick joining the ownership group in 2023.
The Current has broken records this season, winning the NWSL Shield faster than any other team, setting records for wins and points, and generating the highest revenue in league history at $36 million. The franchise has a growing valuation of $275 million, along with ongoing facility expansions.
