Brett Favre’s Career Earnings

Favre won the NFL MVP for three straight seasons between 1995 and 1997, proving just how dominant he was at the peak of his prime. He led the Packers to a Super Bowl title in the 1996 season, marking their first title since 1968.

As the franchise quarterback, Favre was paid handsomely. He signed his first deal with the Packers in 1994, having originally been drafted by the Atlanta Falcons three seasons earlier. He spent just one season there before he was sent to the Packers.

That 1994 contract marked his first extension, now as the established starter in Green Bay. It was a five-year deal, valued at $19 million in total, with a $2.575 million signing bonus.

Favre signed his second deal with the franchise in 1997, shortly after the Packers’ Super Bowl win. The franchise wasn’t taking any chances this time, locking their quarterback up for seven seasons with a stunning $47.25 million contract that featured a $12 million signing bonus.

And yet, that still wouldn’t be his most significant contract. He was extended again in 2001, having continued his fine form as the franchise quarterback. This time, he became the first $100 million man in NFL history, with a ten-year contract with the Packers.

The contract was valued at $101.5 million over ten seasons, with another impressive $11 million signing bonus.

Favre played on that contract until 2009, including the season he was traded to the New York Jets. When he arrived with the Minnesota Vikings in 2009, he signed a two-year, $25 million deal, which was reworked for the 2010 season with a one-year, $16 million deal.

In total, per Spotrac, Favre made $141,829,000 in his 20-year NFL career, spent with four different franchises.
