Linebackers are one of the most important positions in an NFL team. However, they are often ignored or released when it comes to salary caps. Yes, it’s strictly business in the sport, but sometimes, it is much more complicated than that. There could be no better example at the moment than the two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Bradley Chubb.
The Miami Dolphins decided to part ways with the veteran after three and a half seasons of togetherness. Chubb missed one of them, the 2024 season, recovering from a torn ACL, meniscus, and patellar tendon in his right knee, which he suffered in Week 17 of 2023. Now he is joining the Dolphins’ AFC East arch nemesis, the Buffalo Bills. Facing your former team twice a year is usually a recipe for instant bad blood, but Chubb is already flipping the script.

Recently, Chubb appeared on “The Set with Terron Armstead” podcast and shared his feelings about his former team and shared his take on the future. When asked about his thoughts on Miami letting him go, he took his time to express his admiration for what the team had done for him.
Chubb said, “It’s not personal at all. You know what I mean? I’m not going up there to spite Miami and do all this.”
Talking about why he still feels connected with his former team, “It was the best opportunity presented to me. And my message to them, man, I love y’all, took me in when, like I said, I had a lot of hate in my heart. And I had a lot of frustration going to a new city and doing this and having to pick up and move. But y’all welcomed me in.”

Chubb also expressed his regret about not winning a playoff game with the Dolphins.
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t get over that 25-year hump of not winning the playoff game. But we damn sure tried. We had the guys in the locker room who gave it all each and every day. I was one of them. Tried to be one of them each and every day. And, you know, unfortunately, it didn’t work out. It’s not the end of my career, you know,” he said.
Chubb then spoke of a potential return to Miami. He said, “I got three years in Buffalo. I could finish it out with the Dolphins. I mean, I’m not trying to burn no bridges, but, you know, it’s love, man. It’s love for sure.”
The new Bills contract is a boon for the veteran linebacker. Chubb’s 3-year, $43,500,000 contract with the Bills includes a $12,000,000 signing bonus, $21,750,000 in guaranteed money, and an average annual salary of $14,500,000.

How will Chubb’s 2026 season fare with the Bills? Things look up when the contract is considered, and the games will be better.
