Bold predictions aren’t just gimmicks for clicks — they’re tools for insight. They challenge us to think beyond the obvious and push decision-makers to step outside the box.
The NFL Draft is one of the most unpredictable events in sports. In this predictions piece, we evaluate each team from a different angle — one that strays from the consensus and explores what might happen if the draft takes a surprising turn. This kind of thinking helps teams prepare for when the board doesn’t fall as expected.
Over the past four months, we’ve built cases for why teams might make certain moves and why some players seem like obvious fits. But no two general managers think the same. This analysis aims to challenge confirmation bias, spotlight alternative outcomes, and spark conversations about what’s possible, not just what’s expected.
Tennessee Titans
Prediction: Not Just In With the New, But Out With the Old Too
There’s no doubt the Will Levis era in Tennessee is over. Head coach Brian Callahan made that clear, openly voicing his frustration with Levis’ erratic play throughout the season. With several teams still looking for quarterback help, don’t be surprised if Levis lands with a new team late on Day 2 or early Day 3.
Cleveland Browns
Prediction: Shedeur Sanders, No Matter What
The Cleveland Browns are one of the NFL’s most storied franchises — just not for the reasons they’d like. Their inability to find a long-term answer at quarterback has defined them for two decades. Recent additions like Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco are short-term fixes. For general manager Andrew Berry, it’s quarterback or bust.
This is the same regime that moved on from Baker Mayfield — still the only quarterback to show a spark of success since 1999 — and gave $240 million guaranteed to a QB who hadn’t played in over a year and was facing more than 20 sexual assault allegations. That move alone should’ve triggered a complete reset.
The real surprise isn’t what Cleveland will do with the No. 2 pick, it’s how Berry and his staff are still making it. They either find the franchise’s savior or hit the road. No middle ground.
With the second pick, Cleveland will be looking at a quarterback who’s shown he can turn programs around. Shedeur Sanders has proven he can win where others haven’t. Don’t be shocked if Berry wrote “SHEDEUR SANDERS NO MATTER WHAT” on a post-it weeks ago. For this front office, there may not be another option.
New York Giants
Prediction: Jalen Milroe at 34
GM Joe Schoen is on thin ice. His handling of Saquon Barkley’s contract and the Daniel Jones situation (both aired on “Hard Knocks”) painted a messy picture. It’s clear the New York Giants need a real difference-maker at quarterback, or the current regime won’t last long.
New York has added veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, who bring some stability but aren’t long-term answers. But there’s one quarterback with elite tools and upside: Jalen Milroe.
MORE: Latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft
Milroe’s running ability is a blue-chip trait. His accuracy, mechanics, and decision-making still need work, but his character, work ethic, and leadership — endorsed by Nick Saban — make him worth the investment.
Milroe is rising up draft boards, and Schoen has built a situation where it makes sense to bring in a developmental QB. Head coach Brian Daboll did the same with a toolsy project named Josh Allen back in Buffalo.
New England Patriots
Prediction: Aggressive at Wide Receiver
The New England Patriots have drafted two wideouts in each of the last two drafts, and none have cracked 650 receiving yards in a season. While the group is still young, the Patriots must do more to support Drake Maye. This draft is deep at receiver, especially on late Day 2 and early Day 3, so don’t be surprised if New England walks away with more than one.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Prediction: Ashton Jeanty Over Mason Graham
Most mocks have pointed to Mason Graham at No. 5. While he’s the top interior disruptor in this class, there are only a handful of true blue-chip prospects.
Thus, the Jacksonville Jaguars might pivot from need and take the best player available –someone who can help lighten the load on their $275 million quarterback.
Las Vegas Raiders
Prediction: Pass on Jeanty
New GM John Spytek joked that even his 10-year-old son is lobbying for Ashton Jeanty at No. 6. But here’s the thing: drafting a premium player without the infrastructure to support him can be a waste.
Jeanty’s a dynamic talent, but with over 830 touches in college, he may already be worn down by the time the Las Vegas Raiders are ready to win. Instead, expect Vegas to focus on building its foundation, either along the offensive line or with a quarterback to groom.
New York Jets
Prediction: Support Justin Fields at All Costs
The New York Jets have plenty of roster holes. But after handing Justin Fields a $40 million deal, their top goal must be to help him succeed. That means using their first three picks on offensive tackle, tight end, and receiver. For a defense-first franchise, this shift would show they’re all-in on Fields.
Carolina Panthers
Prediction: Insurance Policy
After an early-season benching, Bryce Young bounced back and brought a little hope to the Carolina Panthers. Still, his 6-22 record as a starter is hard to ignore. He doesn’t have elite mobility, a cannon arm, or a proven winning track record. Don’t be shocked if general manager Dan Morgan takes a shot on another quarterback this draft.
New Orleans Saints
Prediction: Jaxson Dart, No Matter What
Derek Carr’s situation only adds fuel to speculation that the New Orleans Saints will target a quarterback in this draft.
While many rank Sanders ahead of Jaxson Dart, New Orleans may prefer the Ole Miss star. Dart draws comparisons to Jalen Hurts thanks to his strong lower body, toughness, and leadership. With former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore now running the offense, Dart could be a perfect fit for the same system that helped Hurts lead Philly to a Super Bowl.
Chicago Bears
Prediction: TreVeyon Henderson… But in Round 1
The closer we get to the draft, the more likely it seems the Chicago Bears won’t get to pick between the top tackles. That likely falls to the Jets, putting the Bears in a tricky spot.
Instead of reaching for a tackle or pass rusher, they could lean into new head coach Ben Johnson’s strength — a creative two-back system.
Teaming TreVeyon Henderson with D’Andre Swift would bring back the kind of dynamic one-two punch Johnson used in Detroit. Henderson is a home-run hitter who can run, catch, pass block, and elevate the entire offense. At this point, it seems unlikely he’ll make it to pick 39.
San Francisco 49ers
Prediction: 49ers Land Savion Williams
Deebo Samuel Sr. was a key part of Kyle Shanahan’s offense, and now he’s gone to Washington. As a result, the San Francisco 49ers will be looking for a new gadget weapon.
Enter TCU’s Savion Williams, a former high school quarterback turned wideout. He’s a tough, physical playmaker with strong hands and the versatility to take snaps in the backfield. He’s a perfect fit to fill Samuel’s shoes.
Dallas Cowboys
Prediction: Re-Establish the Trenches
The Dallas Cowboys once had the NFL’s best offensive line, anchored by Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, and Travis Frederick. But with Martin retiring this offseason, that chapter is officially closed.
While many expect Dallas to take a WR at No. 12, don’t be surprised if they return to their roots and rebuild the offensive line.
Miami Dolphins
Prediction: Protect Tua Tagovailoa at All Costs
The Miami Dolphins have been linked to defensive backs in Round 1, but protecting Tua Tagovailoa must be the top priority. That job became harder with Terron Armstead’s retirement, proving Miami needs help on the line, and fast.
Indianapolis Colts
Prediction: Chris Ballard Gets Aggressive
A staple of a Chris Ballard draft is trading back since he loves stacking picks. But last year, the Indianapolis Colts GM made a real push to move up for Georgia tight end Brock Bowers. No one budged, and the Raiders ended up snagging Bowers two spots before Indy.
This year, Ballard may try again to land Tyler Warren, a prospect who checks every box for him.
Ballard and Bears GM Ryan Poles worked together in Kansas City for four years. If the top tackles and Jeanty are off the board when Chicago picks at No. 10, Ballard could give his old colleague a call. The Colts might jump four spots to grab their guy, while the Bears would pick up extra draft capital and still land their preferred RB.
Atlanta Falcons
Prediction: Be Excitingly Conventional
Falcons GM Terry Fontenot isn’t afraid to go against the grain. Case in point: drafting Michael Penix Jr. at No. 8 just weeks after handing Kirk Cousins $100 million guaranteed. It might pay off down the line, but it raised plenty of eyebrows.
This time around, Atlanta is in desperate need of help off the edge. While the idea of taking Milroe or Tyler Shough might tempt some (kidding… kind of), this year’s pick at No. 15 looks to be much more straightforward. Expect Atlanta to be the first team to take a pass rusher — a move they passed on last year as a result of their Penix pick.
Arizona Cardinals
Prediction: Double Dip in the Trenches
Fans may be clamoring for another weapon for Kyler Murray, but the Arizona Cardinals need help in the trenches. Don’t be surprised if they double up on edge rushers, defensive linemen, or a mix of both with their first two picks. That may mean missing out on receivers early, but the long-term payoff could be worth it.
Cincinnati Bengals
Prediction: All-Defense Draft
The 2024 Cincinnati Bengals defense wasted an MVP-caliber season from Joe Burrow, a triple crown year from Ja’Marr Chase, and a sack title from Trey Hendrickson by still missing the playoffs.
This offseason, the Bengals are focused on keeping their stars, but beyond that, they’ve only made minor moves to retain a few depth pieces. That leaves the defense in serious need of a reboot. With only six picks in this draft, don’t be shocked if Cincinnati goes all-in on defense.
Seattle Seahawks
Prediction: Not All-In on Sam Darnold
The Seattle Seahawks traded Geno Smith and brought in Sam Darnold, signing him to a three-year, $100 million deal. But after 2025, his cap hit drops to a manageable $25 million, which means they could pivot quickly if needed.
Seattle is still evaluating quarterbacks, bringing in Shough and Milroe for top-30 visits. After how Darnold played in two critical games last season, don’t be surprised if Seattle drafts a developmental QB on Day 2 or 3.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Prediction: Mike Evans 2.0
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers need help on defense, but their receiving corps is also aging. If Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan is still on the board, the Bucs might not pass on him as a long-term successor to Mike Evans.
The two receivers have different styles, but both are long, physical, and dangerous in contested-catch situations. Letting McMillan learn from Evans — who’s headed for the Hall of Fame — is a win for both the team and the rookie.
Denver Broncos
Prediction: Pass on Omarion Hampton, Solidify the Trenches
Sean Payton made it clear: the Denver Broncos need help at running back. Many expect Omarion Hampton to be the pick at No. 20, but don’t be surprised if Denver waits.
The Broncos have been digging into mid-to-late-round backs. They’ve met with Jaydon Blue, DJ Giddens, Ollie Gordon II, Kaleb Johnson, Quinshon Judkins, Devin Neal, Cam Skattebo, and Brashard Smith.
With that much interest in RB depth, Denver could focus early on interior defensive linemen like Kenneth Grant, Walter Nolen, or Derrick Harmon.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Prediction: Patiently Wait for Will Howard
As of now, Aaron Rodgers hasn’t signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even if he doesn’t, the Steelers might pass on a QB in Round 1 and instead wait for Will Howard, the reigning national champion out of Ohio State, potentially in Round 3.
Howard brings the character and championship DNA that Pittsburgh values. Waiting would let the team address more immediate needs at corner or along the defensive line first.
Los Angeles Chargers
Prediction: Identity Change
Jim Harbaugh has already laid the groundwork in L.A. This year, expect a shift toward skill positions — wide receiver, tight end, running back, and cornerback could all be addressed in the first four rounds. It’s a noticeable change from last year’s draft approach.
Green Bay Packers
Prediction: Select Their First First-Round WR Since 2002
The Green Bay Packers haven’t drafted a wide receiver in the first round since Javon Walker in 2002. But this year, they’re in the perfect spot to end that streak.
With players like McMillan, Emeka Egbuka, Luther Burden III, or Jayden Higgins in range, it could finally be time. Scouts say there’s little gap between picks 15-40, so it only takes one team to fall in love.
Minnesota Vikings
Prediction: Trade-Friendly
The Minnesota Vikings have the fewest picks of any team in this draft (four). Thus, don’t be shocked if GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah looks to move back and stockpile picks.
That could make Minnesota a target for teams like the Giants or Browns, who may want to jump back into Round 1 for a quarterback. Expect the Vikings to value flexibility and prioritize trades early.
Houston Texans
Prediction: RB Reinforcement
C.J. Stroud proved he can carry the offense, but he can’t do it alone. The Houston Texans have focused on the offensive line this offseason, but the backfield still needs help.
With a 28-year-old RB atop the depth chart, it makes sense to target a running back sooner rather than later. Whether it’s Hampton or later names like Blue, Johnson, or Judkins, don’t be surprised if Houston makes a move.
Los Angeles Rams
Prediction: Not Just a Flier
Matthew Stafford is 37, and the Los Angeles Rams nearly traded him to the Giants this offseason. While they’re not pushing him out the door just yet, they’re clearly planning ahead.
That includes potentially drafting a quarterback early — something not many are expecting. Despite their usual low interest in top-30 visits, they hosted Alabama’s Milroe, signaling serious interest.
They aren’t looking for a late-round project like Kyle McCord or Max Brosmer. The Rams may be ready to find Stafford’s successor in the first or second round.
Baltimore Ravens
Prediction: Trade Happy
Eric DeCosta and the Baltimore Ravens are always among the best at working the draft board. Heading into 2024, they’re tied with the 49ers for the most picks, holding 11 total selections. As one of the true power brokers in the draft, expect Baltimore to be active — moving up, trading down, and looking to stockpile even more capital for the 2026 class.
With 11 picks already secured for next year’s draft, DeCosta and the Ravens have the freedom to be as flexible and aggressive as they want.
Detroit Lions
Prediction: Back to the Trenches
In recent drafts, the Detroit Lions made splashy picks like Sam LaPorta and Jahmyr Gibbs. But in the NFL, trends are always cyclical.
After losing veteran guard Kevin Zeitler and feeling the impact of Aidan Hutchinson’s broken leg last season, Detroit appears ready to return its focus to the lines. This year, expect the Lions to restore depth up front early in the draft.
Washington Commanders
Prediction: All-In on Jayden Daniels
The Washington Commanders are ahead of schedule. After hitting on Jayden Daniels with last year’s No. 2 overall pick, they’re now all in on supporting the reigning Rookie of the Year. Washington’s already traded for All-Pro left tackle Laremy Tunsil from Houston and could now take big swings early on at receiver and tight end.
Buffalo Bills
Prediction: Add a Young and Reliable Threat
Many expect the Buffalo Bills to target help along the defensive front with its first two picks, especially after being pushed around by the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game again. But don’t overlook their need for more firepower at wide receiver.
Since trading away Stefon Diggs, the Bills have tried to land a new top target for Josh Allen, including a swing at Amari Cooper. So far, nothing’s worked. Sitting at No. 30 overall, they’re in a good spot to land one of the top receivers in the class and finally get Allen the young, reliable playmaker he needs.
Kansas City Chiefs
Prediction: Draft Travis Kelce’s Replacement
This draft class has strong depth at TE, and with Travis Kelce likely entering his final season, Kansas City could make its move. The Chiefs hosted Bowling Green’s Harold Fannin Jr. on a top-30 visit and are reportedly interested in LSU’s Mason Taylor as well.
With underwhelming production from the wide receivers, don’t be surprised if Kansas City targets a tight end in the first three rounds and shifts toward more 12 personnel sets in 2025.
Philadelphia Eagles
Prediction: First-Round Tight End
Howie Roseman has built one of the league’s best rosters by sticking to a simple rule: take the best player available, no matter the position.
Dallas Goedert is now 30 and nearing the back half of his career. It’s worth remembering that the Eagles drafted Goedert while Zach Ertz (then just 28) was still producing at a high level. Don’t be surprised if Philly takes the same approach and targets LSU’s Taylor in Round 1 as the next in line.
