Bills GM Brandon Beane Drops Latest Josh Allen Injury Update

On Wednesday, the team’s leadership addressed his medical outlook and offseason timeline, offering clarity on potential next steps while signaling target readiness for spring work.

The Bills’ immediate priorities include the head-coach search and roster evaluations; Allen’s status is central to both and shapes the organization’s program planning over the coming weeks.

General manager Brandon Beane said Allen “might” need a procedure on his right foot, noting the team expects him to be available for organized team activities if intervention is required.

With the Bills’ season officially over, Beane told reporters, “He could have to have something done to his foot potentially here soon,” he added, “Allen should be ready” for OTAs. Allen initially injured the foot in Week 16 against the Cleveland Browns and re-aggravated it the following week versus Philadelphia; he then finished the year while listed with foot, knee, and finger injuries for the divisional round.

Wednesday’s update aligns with prior reporting that imaging was negative in December, but late-season symptoms persisted. The team will finalize plans following consultations, with the expectation that Allen’s offseason timeline will remain on track for spring participation if the medical staff recommends a procedure.

Josh Allen Played Through Injury During NFL Playoffs

Allen played through multiple injuries in the postseason after a regular season marked by durability and consecutive starts. He was listed with right foot, left knee and right finger issues ahead of the divisional game, continuing a streak of availability that dates to Week 10 of his 2018 rookie season; he has started 136 straight games across regular season and playoffs.

Reports during the week noted Allen’s practice participation despite soreness, and teammates praised his toughness after the wild-card win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Against Denver, Allen’s performance included two interceptions and two lost fumbles in the overtime loss, and he acknowledged postgame that missed opportunities would stay with him.

The franchise’s update indicates that any procedure would be scheduled early in the offseason to protect readiness for OTAs, consistent with the team’s broader planning and Allen’s typical approach to playing through pain late in the season.
