Body-camera footage shows York being stopped in a rental Volkswagen SUV at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community in East Palestine, Ohio. Wearing a Yankees T-shirt, basketball shorts, and sneakers, York appeared confused as officers placed him in handcuffs.
He repeatedly asked, “Can I ask what you’re doing?” before saying, “I was just driving.”
The footage also shows officers searching the vehicle and examining the cash in York’s wallet. One officer reacted to the amount of money, saying, “He’s got a [explicit] ton of cash.” Another officer said, “He’s got all the money… It’s crazy the people that do this.” He questioned why people with that kind of money would take such risks.
Once fans saw the footage, the conversation soon moved to X, with many focusing on York’s appearance and the circumstances surrounding his arrest.

The reactions soon shifted toward the unusual setting and timing. One user simply wrote, “Broad daylight, man.” Another fan noticed York’s shirt and joked, “Yankees shirt on too? The ability to make fun of multiple fan bases with this scenario is a gift from God.”

Police arrested York on Sunday after he allegedly responded to an online escort advertisement posted by an undercover officer. According to police reports, York used the name “Joe” while arranging a meeting and discussing payment for sexual services.
The case was later resolved through a plea agreement.
Prosecutors amended the prostitution charge to misdemeanor disorderly conduct, while York pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools. He received a day in jail, credited for time served, was fined $1,150, and forfeited $160 to a human trafficking task force.
The 49ers issued a brief statement after the case was resolved, saying the organization would not comment further.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has confirmed that the league is reviewing the matter, leaving open the possibility of additional discipline for York.
“It’s being reviewed under the personal conduct policy,” Goodell said on Wednesday. “We’ll do that, and when there’s something to be reported, we’ll talk.”
