The Chicago Bears have put a lot of work into building surrounding Caleb Williams with the talent he needs to succeed in the NFL.
This week, one of his teammates was asked what they expect to see from the first overall pick in his second season.

Chicago Bears CB Got To See Caleb Williams Work Every Day
Williams came into the NFL with one of the best sets of playmakers a rookie QB could ask for. DJ Moore had already proven himself as a star receiver in the league with the Carolina Panthers, and the Bears then traded for Keenan Allen, who’d done the same with the Los Angeles Chargers.
If that wasn’t enough, after drafting Williams first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, Chicago came back for another offensive weapon just eight picks later. The Bears drafted Washington Huskies receiver Rome Odunze to further advance the pass game, and it seemed Chicago was destined for immediate success.
While Williams showed the flashes of the stardom he’d advertised in college, the results were inconsistent. He threw four touchdowns in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he then went four straight games without a single touchdown pass.
When the curtains closed on the 2024 season, Williams had totaled 3,541 passing yards and 20 touchdown passes. The Bears finished 5-12 and at the bottom of the NFC North.
Now-retired NFL legend Brandon Graham caught up with Bears defensive back Kyler Gordon on NFL Network this week. He asked the three-year pro what he needed to see from his quarterback going into 2025, that he hadn’t seen in 2024:
“I saw the way he carried himself the entire time. He carries himself with confidence regardless no matter the situation. Everything he does, he’s a competitor, and I think he’s just going to make more big plays this year.
“I think there was more out there last year that could have been made that he’s going to make this year, and I feel very confident in his capabilities.”

Ben Johnson’s Arrival Will Serve Williams Tremendously
Williams will have the added benefit of Ben Johnson as his head coach in 2025. The former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator has been the hottest ticket for a lead role over the past couple of seasons, but he wanted to stay with the Lions to see if they could win a Super Bowl with the current group.
When Johnson started to interview, there was a rush of franchises trying to acquire his services, but he ultimately chose to work with Williams.
The new Chicago Bears head coach is an offensive mastermind who has helped Jared Goff play some of the best football of his career in Detroit. He’ll maximize both Caleb’s ability and the playmakers around him, and the Bears could field a far more explosive unit as a result.
Chicago has added veteran offensive linemen Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson in trades and also signed Drew Dalman to play center.
They added Colston Loveland in the first round of the draft, then grabbed Luther Burden III in the second, another two offensive weapons for their franchise QB.
The Bears have done everything they can to position Williams for a successful season in 2025 and a career with the franchise beyond that. Now they just need to find the results on the field.
