Baltimore Ravens Predicted To Add More Firepower at Safety Despite Drafting Malaki Starks

The Baltimore Ravens have shown they're all in to win a Super Bowl right now. PFSN believes they will add a veteran safety to build depth.

The Baltimore Ravens spent their first-round draft pick in 2025 on Georgia Bulldogs star Malaki Starks. While Starks is expected to be an immediate impact player, the Ravens are still expected to add further depth to their secondary.

Baltimore Ravens Predicted To Sign Veteran Safety in Free Agency

Baltimore’s secondary looks extremely dangerous with the addition of Starks. He’ll now pair with All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton to form what could be one of the most threatening safety groups in the NFL.

The Ravens released Marcus Williams during the offseason following a disappointing downward spiral in his performances for the franchise. Williams, who had signed a five-year, $70 million deal with the team in 2022, was benched during the 2024 season and quickly released in the aftermath.

While Starks is expected to play a significant role, so was safety Ar’Darius Washington, who had made a name for himself as a reliable contributor with a breakout year in 2024. In his fourth year as a pro, Washington started the rest of the season after Williams was benched, recording 54 tackles with two interceptions and eight pass breakups.

Thanks to his contributions in a contract year, the Ravens re-signed the safety to a one-year, $3.26 million deal. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn achilles during offseason workouts, meaning the Ravens lost a vital piece of their defense for the entire season.

In PFSN’s latest free agent submission, the Ravens are predicted to sign Julian Blackmon, who can cover the loss of Washington for the 2025 season.

Ravens All In, Expected To Add Further Veteran Help

This team is all in to win a Super Bowl right now, especially considering moves such as signing Derrick Henry to an extension while adding DeAndre Hopkins to the offense.

Blackmon has spent the past five seasons with the Indianapolis Colts after being drafted in the third round of the 2020 draft.

He started 16 games in the 2024 season, primarily playing a free safety role that would be a perfect match alongside Hamilton at strong safety.

Blackmon has 243 career tackles, with 50 assisted. He’s recorded 10 career interceptions and nine pass breakups. He’s featured primarily as a free safety but can also cover as a nickel or play down in the box.

The former Colts playmaker is currently a free agent. With a healthy career history and only 26 years old, Blackmon is expected to be a popular candidate to sign before the 2025 season begins.
