‘Deal With the Baggage’ — NFL Insider Reveals 5 Teams ‘Have Been Checking In’ on Stefon Diggs Despite WR’s Legal Issues

Stefon Diggs is still a free agent, but at least five teams have checked in on the All-Pro receiver so far, as reported by Jeremy Fowler.

Stefon Diggs has been a free agent since the New England Patriots released him just one year into a three-year, $63.5 million agreement. They processed his release back in the first week of March. He still hasn’t landed on his feet.

It’s not because of a lack of production. Diggs is coming off his seventh 1,000-yard season in the past eight years. Yet, teams have reportedly been checking in on his services.

Stefon Diggs Has Heard from Five Teams Since Patriots Release

One factor that could also be weighing into Diggs’ lingering availability is some recent legal trouble. Yet, Diggs was ruled not guilty of the charges.

As ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler recently reported, Diggs’ market could heat up soon, especially with training camp right around the corner. His camp has even heard from as many as five teams, so he may even have a number of choices to pick from.

“I’m hearing he’s going to have a market closer to training camp,” Fowler said. “I was told that at least 5 teams that need a wide receiver have been checking in…they’re gonna have to deal with the baggage and the headlines, they are what they are.”

Several teams still need another playmaking receiver. While Diggs is now 32 years old, he’s been one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL.

He recently claimed to be the “best No. 2 receiver” in the game, admitting he may no longer be a team’s go-to option. Still, Diggs is of the belief that he could make almost any team better, and soon enough, he’ll likely get a chance to prove it.

Teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Commanders, or possibly the Baltimore Ravens could make the most sense for Diggs. All could offer opportunities to compete for a playoff spot, and Diggs could fit in nicely as a No. 2 option on any of those teams.

Plus, as a Maryland native, Diggs could have a special draw to landing in Washington.

While he may have some off-field “baggage,” there’s no doubt he can still perform at a high level. The question is, which team will take a chance on him next, and can he live up to being the best complementary receiver in football?
