Just when it seemed like things could not get any worse for the Las Vegas Raiders, they found a way to invent a new low. In a clash between two teams in the thick of the race for the first overall pick, they were getting thoroughly outclassed by a Cleveland Browns team led by a fifth-round rookie.
However, things went from bad to worse for the franchise, as their first-round pick and potential franchise cornerstone, running back Ashton Jeanty, suffered an injury in the fourth quarter.
What Happened to Ashton Jeanty?
A thoroughly dominant night for the Browns saw them have their way with Las Vegas on defense, registering 10 sacks on Geno Smith. Unfortunately, things weren’t much better on the other end either.
In his first career start, Shedeur Sanders was more than serviceable, as he led Cleveland down the field on three separate occasions. For the Raiders, the offense could never get going, both through the air and on the ground.
The struggles for Smith were obvious, given his play the entire season, but Jeanty, too, struggled against one of the most formidable defenses in the entire league. Carrying the ball 17 times, he could only manage 50 rushing yards, for less than three yards per carry.
However, he was able to make an impact as a pass catcher, with eight receptions for 58 receiving yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, as he tried to go for a run in the fourth quarter, down 24-10, his left leg got caught up as Mason Graham attempted to drive him down.

Immediately clutching his left ankle, it was clear that something had gone wrong, as he hobbled off the field to the sideline.
Fantasy Outlook After Jeanty’s Injury
Really, the only bright spot on the Raiders this season, Jeanty has been a workhorse, albeit an inefficient one. Jeanty actually had one of his best games this season against a very good Browns defense, mostly on the heels of his eight receptions and receiving touchdown.
If Jeanty has to miss time, Raheem Mostert would serve as the lead back with Dylan Laube mixing in as the change-of-pace guy. Mostert would be a worthwhile pickup in fantasy leagues, but don’t expect anything more than RB3 value. Jeanty could barely produce behind this offensive line. Good luck to the oldest running back in the league.
