The Mike Vrabel scandal has been the talk of the football world for quite some time now. Ever since the information first became public, his alleged affair with Dianna Russini has been all over the internet, with new details pouring in seemingly every day.
For most of the public, the situation seems like a startling development that threatens to derail the entire season for the New England Patriots. However, one legendary cornerback believes the scandal shouldn’t be getting this much attention.
Mike Vrabel May Be Outdone by 1 Man
Since the story first came out, it has been a constant string of drama and developments. From alleged Spotify playlists to random interview quotes, nothing is off limits or beyond the reach of the internet.
As a result, both Russini and Vrabel have faced some serious consequences. Russini, after initially trying to downplay the story, stepped down from her role at The Athletic. But the two-time Coach of the Year didn’t walk away unscathed either.
After admitting to some tough conversations with his family and the Patriots organization, he also missed the third day of the 2026 NFL Draft to attend counseling. Even after the draft, as the story hasn’t slowed, some wonder whether his job could be at risk.
But Asante Samuel, who won two Super Bowls in his career as a legendary playoff performer, doesn’t think the situation warrants a second glance. Making some wild confessions about himself over the last few weeks, he dropped another bombshell.
Taking to X, the four-time Pro Bowler wrote, “I cheated on all my girls since elementary school my boy. F**k you mean.” It isn’t the first time the NFL record holder for most interceptions returned for a touchdown in a playoff game has admitted to his charlatanry.
Admitting to having a wife and a “side chick,” he’s made his adultery public knowledge constantly. Moreover, he is a former teammate of Vrabel’s on the Patriots, and it’s clear he supports the head coach.
Not only did he not find any fault with his actions, but he also claimed that Vrabel would have to be the one to suffer. As he exclaimed, “Now you gotta put your side chicks on pause for a little while because of all the noise that is surrounding him.”

Given the attention the story has received, it is safe to say the larger public doesn’t share Samuel’s mindset. However, it remains to be seen whether New England or the NFL itself will step in at some point and make a decision.
For the team, if Vrabel’s absences become a regular thing all summer long, or even into the season, they might not have a choice but to make a tough decision.
