There is always trash talk in sports. Most of it happens on the field in the heat of the moment, but some of it carries over and leaves the field.
Emmanuel Acho, Asante Samuel, and Shannon Sharpe all played in the NFL and know what that trash talk is like.
Post-career, Acho and Sharpe each have podcasts, which led to some online trash talk recently.
Asante Samuel Takes Issue With Emmanuel Acho’s Comments About Shannon Sharpe
The online beef started when Sharpe’s podcast, “Nightcap,” shared on social media that it had reached 1 billion “organic” views.
The account used the word “organic” to tease Acho, who had previously shared the stats for his podcast “Speakeasy,” but it was built on the account of the “Undisputed” show, on which Sharpe and Skip Bayless had immense success.
Since Acho’s podcast subscribers are not entirely organic, many, including Samuel, called him out on social media.
All of it led Acho to take a subtle dig at Sharpe’s “Nightcap” podcast.
“This CANNOT be accurate.. Don’t forget Unc got like 500M views sitting over here on the Speakeasy Youtube channel too,” Acho wrote on X. “Y’all make sure you subscribe here to show Unc some love.”

Now, whether Acho was actually trying to call Sharpe out or just using it as a way to promote his show is up for interpretation.
But Samuel was not a fan of Acho’s response and started calling him out for it early Saturday morning. He said, “(Expletive) you learned how to scam good Emmanuel Acho”
Four minutes later, he added, “We understand you’re a sensitive dude, Emmanuel Acho, and need fame and attention to feel accepted. Like your guy Ryan Clark.”

But it didn’t stop there. A few minutes later, Samuel finished with one last jab and wrote, “Seriously, how can you inherit a platform from another (expletive) that he built then talk (expletive) to him about his fan base. Emmanuel Acho, nasty work!”
Throughout the last 48ish hours, Acho and Samuel have gone back and forth. It seemed to have started when ESPN fired Ryan Clark, who is friends with Acho.

Acho came back to Samuel, explaining that he did not buy the Speakeasy’s YouTube Channel, which is Acho’s current podcast.
Both players spent time in the NFL in the early 2010s. Acho played for the Philadelphia Eagles for a couple of seasons (2013-2014).
Samuel had a longer career, playing for 11 seasons (2003-2013). He was very successful, with four trips to the Pro Bowl, one first-team All-Pro selection, and two Super Bowl championships.
Sharpe had the best career of the three, though. He won three Super Bowls, was an eight-time Pro Bowler, and is now in the Hall of Fame.
This likely won’t be the last of the beef between Samuel and Acho and potentially Sharpe, as more and more former players are going into the podcasting business to continue talking about the game on a platform that can reach millions, or in Sharpe’s case, billions.
