In recent years, the Arizona Cardinals have struggled and underperformed expectations, but for the first time in a while, they are ushering in a new era after an offseason full of changes. After moving on from QB Kyler Murray and hiring HC Mike LaFleur, the Cardinals began their rebuild, and with a top draft pick, making the right selection was crucial.
With the No. 3 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Arizona selected Jeremiyah Love, and there’s a ton of excitement about the star running back. While discussing his goals for his rookie year, the Cardinals RB sent a message to the rest of the NFL.
Cardinals RB Jeremiyah Love Is Ready To ‘Take the League by Storm’
When the Cardinals selected Love at No. 3 overall, it was a bit of a surprise. After all, Arizona had already added free agent Tyler Allgeier to a running-back room that already included James Conner and Trey Benson, so the position wasn’t seen as a major need.
Now, Love is the new RB1 in Arizona and in an interview with R.org’s D.J. Siddiqi, the rookie spoke about his goals for the Cardinals this season.
“As far as team goals, go out and win some games, man,” Love said. “Go out there and compete and do what we got to do to be recognized as a great team in the NFL. Last season was last season, that’s in the past. This season is a new season. We got a new coaching staff on the team that is willing to do anything to have success. So team-wise, the goal is just to win games and do what we have to do to get that level of success that we want.”
It’s good to hear that Love’s main priority is winning and turning around the culture in Arizona. When asked about his personal goals, Love didn’t hold back: he’s expecting to be great from Day 1.
“Personally, I just want to go out there and take the league by storm. I’m not trying to wait around for anything; this is not college, me coming in being able to sit behind the veterans or upperclassmen,” said Love. “No, this is the NFL, man. I plan to come in and do what I gotta do to cement my name as one of the best in the league, and at the end of my rookie year, I want to win some awards and stuff like that. But that’ll be week by week in making sure that I’m performing the way that I need to get to that point.”
Love then connected all of his goals and acknowledged that they can go hand in hand.
“Then it also just brings it back to the team; as long as I’m doing whatever’s best for the team, all those things kind of throughout my time in Notre Dame, I’ve been a team guy,” said Love. “Pretty much my whole career at Notre Dame, I was able to accomplish a lot of great things, both as a team and both individually. Those things weren’t set in stone. Being a good teammate, being a good player, I happened to achieve those accolades. That’d be great. Who doesn’t want awards at the end of the season?”
Love certainly doesn’t lack confidence, and the Cardinals are hoping that he can live up to the hype and become take the league by storm, as he said.
Last season at Notre Dame, Love rushed for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns while also adding 280 receiving yards and 3 scores on the ground, and he posted a 92.4 RB Impact grade in PFSN’s CFB RBi metric. He put up these numbers despite ranking 20th in the nation in rushing attempts since he was splitting carries with Jadarian Price.
Love has all the potential in the world to become an elite running back and a face of the franchise for the Cardinals.
