Antonio Brown may be retired from the NFL, but his name continues to trend, often for reasons outside of football. The former star wide receiver has stirred up plenty of headlines by repeatedly targeting Tom Brady on social media.
But according to Brown himself, things aren’t quite what they seem.
Brown Sets the Record Straight on Tom Brady Drama
Brown’s activity on social media has been a spectacle in recent years. He’s gained significant attention through controversial posts, some of which have taken direct shots at Brady. While it’s unclear whether Brown personally controls all of his account’s content, the posts, including memes mocking Brady during his divorce, have caused widespread confusion.
This online behavior baffled many, especially considering Brady’s past support for Brown. The seven-time Super Bowl champion extended a helping hand to Brown not once, but twice—first during their short stint with the New England Patriots and again in Tampa Bay. The latter reunion even resulted in a Super Bowl victory.
Recently, Brown escalated matters by posting old direct messages from Brady. When asked about the release of those private conversations, Brady responded during his appearance on the Impaulsive podcast. He explained that his intentions were always sincere, saying he hoped “to bring out the best in him.”
Despite the apparent online jabs and controversial content, Brown is now offering a more candid take on his relationship with Brady. Speaking with TMZ Sports, Brown didn’t shy away from addressing the situation directly. He began with a bit of humor, saying, “traditional marijuana” helped him in life—not Tom Brady.
However, he quickly pivoted to a more respectful tone, clarifying how he truly feels about his former quarterback.
“I love Tom Brady, man. Tom Brady gave me a good opportunity to play football… I don’t know about the life thing, I think he’s going too far,” Brown admitted.
That statement draws a clear line between appreciation for Brady’s efforts on the field and a more skeptical view of his broader influence. While Brown’s antics continue to draw online attention—and perhaps engagement farming is part of the strategy—his latest comments shed light on a more grounded perspective.
The public back-and-forth between these two former teammates may continue to surface, but Brown’s latest remarks suggest there’s still a measure of respect beneath the memes and viral posts. Whether this closes the chapter or just adds another page remains to be seen.
