Few people know Travis Kelce better than Andy Reid. The Kansas City Chiefs head coach drafted Kelce in 2013 and has spent more than a decade helping him develop into one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history.
But believe it or not, his connection to Taylor Swift goes back even further. So, when Reid was recently asked whether he would be present at the power couple’s wedding, he responded with a classic one-liner before sharing a heartfelt message.
Andy Reid Shares Heartfelt Message Before Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s Wedding
When asked whether he expects to attend Kelce and Swift’s wedding during a recent appearance on “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” Reid couldn’t help but joke about his age and getting back into formalwear.
“I’ve cut back on the cheeseburgers a bit now that I’m older, I can get into the tuxedo, so there is a chance I’ll be there, for sure,” Reid joked.
The Chiefs head coach then shared his genuine feelings about the couple while revealing that he has known Swift longer than most NFL fans might realize.
“You know, she’s a Pennsylvania girl, so I got to know her before Trav did, and I’m happy for them that they’re in love,” Reid said. “That, to me, is the most important thing.”
If you’re wondering how Reid’s connection to Swift predates her relationship with Kelce, here’s the story.
During an appearance on the “Let’s Go!” podcast with Tom Brady, Reid revealed that he first met Swift and her father, Scott, while he was coaching the Philadelphia Eagles. The Swift family lived in Pennsylvania before Taylor became a global superstar, and Reid crossed paths with them while he was there between 1999 and 2012.
“I knew her before from Philadelphia. Her dad played at [the University of] Delaware and was a big football fan and good guy,” Reid said. “I had met him there, and her.”
Reid joked that Kelce was surprised when he learned that his coach already knew the Swifts before him.
Having known Taylor long before she became a fixture at Chiefs games and back when Travis’ NFL career was just starting, Reid is uniquely positioned to appreciate just how far both have come in their journeys.
Reid’s remarks only add to the anticipation surrounding Kelce and Swift’s wedding plans.
While Kelce and Swift have not publicly disclosed details about the ceremony, there’s plenty of speculation. According to Page Six, Madison Square Garden has emerged as a potential venue, although neither the couple nor their representatives have confirmed those claims.
The outlet also reported that the wedding could take place around Fourth of July weekend, further fueling buzz among fans.
Interest has only grown since Kelce and Swift announced their engagement in 2025. Yet while fans remain focused on potential venues and guest lists, Reid won’t be worrying about those. The Chiefs coach’s message was simple: he is just happy that the couple is in love and enjoying this chapter of their lives together.
