Shortly after announcing his retirement in 2022, former NFL quarterback Andrew Luck returned to Stanford University to pursue his Master of Arts in Education. Luck had also taken a part-time coaching role, but after completing his degree, he was named the Cardinals’ general manager in November 2024.
The former Colts QB has made several notable changes in Stanford since assuming the role, including firing head coach Troy Taylor on March 25, 2025, after two investigations into the latter’s conduct towards female staffers.
Luck then hired his former coach, Frank Reich, for the job. As they gear up for the season now, the 35-year-old was spotted cold-calling the Cardinals’ fanbase to renew season tickets.

Andrew Luck Cold-Calls Stanford Fans To Renew Season Tickets
Luck is a Stanford legend and was inducted into the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023. He completely transformed the program during his three years under center from 2009-11, leading them to their first 12-win season. The Cardinals had their best two-year total at 18 before Luck led them to 23 wins in 2010 and 2011.
Now, serving as the general manager of the program, the 35-year-old would be hoping to drive similar results at Stanford as an executive and is convincing fans to renew their season tickets to watch history unfold.
“I’m just calling to thank you for being a season ticket member in the past and the support that you’ve given, and hope you consider renewing those season tickets for this upcoming year,” Luck told a fan.
When asked whether he was really Luck, the GM confirmed and joked that it wasn’t an AI call.
“No, this is not an AI Robot. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if that starts happening here soon.”
All I’m saying is if Andrew Luck ever left sports and used that Stanford engineering education and this charm to launch an AI startup he’d get Mira Murati terms. pic.twitter.com/R0LE4BflGZ

Luck further noted that it was his own desire to sell the tickets.
“I actually demanded that I come here and sell tickets. They didn’t ask me because that’s how convinced I am on making sure we get our fans, especially those that have been here.”
Luck’s cold-call worked its magic in no time, and the fan appeared to have immediately renewed the season ticket. However, he noted that the highlight of his day will be when the ticketing staff informs him that his family has renewed the season tickets.
It was partly because of the family, especially his wife Nicole, that Luck retired just after seven seasons in the NFL. However, the bigger reason was his injuries, which forced him to miss the entire 2017 season. He finished his career with a 53-33 record as a starter, throwing for 23,671 yards and 171 touchdowns with 83 interceptions.
