    Amare Ferrell’s NFL Draft Potential

Amare Ferrell is one of the more well-rounded safety prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft. At 6’2″, 200 pounds, he’s long and explosive on the back end, with a sound pedal, fluid matching skills in zone, and quick click-and-close reaction over top route breaks. He has a vast technical palette in terms of how he can move to respond to routes, and he’s also very reliable coming downhill in run support to make tackles.

There are occasional lapses in coverage communication and role responsibility that Ferrell will have to iron out, but that comes with the territory at safety. Overall, aside from good-not-great long speed, Ferrell doesn’t have too many holes in his game, and he should be able to take on coverage and support roles without much acclimation in the NFL.

Ferrell was tested the most against Penn State this year, in a game where the Hoosiers didn’t have the positive game script all the way through. In that game, he was solid in coverage—reliably managing space and route relationships—and he notched a pass breakup working at the catch point. However, coming downhill in run defense against a physical Penn State squad, he struggled at times to properly engage blocks and impose his will to control spacing. Ferrell has the frame to size up, but he’ll need to match opposing physicality at the next level if he wants to keep ideal leverage in support.

Ferrell’s profile might boil down to this, ultimately: He’s not elite in any category, but he’s at least serviceable all the way around. He’s not a burner, but he’s fluid and savvy managing zones, and he’s not ultra-consistent in support, but he’s still fast-flowing and urgent coming downhill, with a quick trigger and the size to match up. In the mid-to-late Day 2 range, Ferrell would present the most value as a two-high safety with some single-high appeal and playmaking upside.

Where Is Ferrell Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?

Ferrell currently holds the No. 79 overall rank among prospects, reflecting his standing among mid-round prospects. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 70.7 as of December 6 reflects that he is typically being selected on Day 2 or early Day 3.

Interestingly, his ADP is higher than his rank, suggesting that users are targeting him more aggressively than his positional ranking might indicate.

Users controlling the Chicago Bears have been the team that selected Ferrell the most frequently over the past week, accounting for 1.0% of their picks across all seven rounds.
