It’s common to see celebrities and athletes in attendance for major sporting events, but it’s very uncommon to see those same public figures stay behind afterward to pick up trash.
That’s exactly what New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston did at the Japan-Netherlands World Cup group stage match in Arlington. Since then, he’s gone viral, and his former teammate, New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara, is reminding everyone that’s just the type of person Winston is.

After the Netherlands-Japan group stage match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which was one of the most exciting early-stage games, concluded, many Japanese fans were seen staying behind to help clean up the trash that was left at Dallas Stadium.
Among those fans was Winston, who joined in to help clean up the stadium after it hosted the World Cup game. While Winston has been known throughout his NFL career for his personality on and off the field, this isn’t the first time that fun, engaging personality has led to an act of community service.
His former teammate in New Orleans reminded everyone of that Monday morning. “Lol s**t is funny because everybody thinks Jameis doin this for show but he really just a genuinely good dude in real life… cameras or not,” Kamara wrote on X.

The veteran quarterback has always had a fun personality, and that has led him to go viral various times throughout his career. However, he’s used that stage to make an impact on his community and the next generation.

Winston has made surprise school visits to talk to students about self-confidence and education, and he’s volunteered at the Food Bank in Harlem, New York, to serve meals to the local community. The NFL veteran used his Dream Forever Foundation, which he originally established while in Tampa Bay, to support Hurricane Ida relief efforts in New Orleans.
Now, his most recent act that’s come to light was that Winston stayed after the World Cup group stage game concluded to help pick up trash left behind.
Winston has also had his share of legal troubles, but he seems to be making a concerted effort to learn from his mistakes and teach the next generation to do the same.
