Get to Know the National Anthem Performer for the Bears-49ers Game

The honor of performing the national anthem for the Chicago Bears vs. San Francisco 49ers on Sunday will go to All-4-One, an American male R&B and pop group whose smooth harmonies defined an era, according to 49ers.com. For longtime music fans, their appearance will be a wave of nostalgia; for newer listeners, it’s a reminder of a group whose influence still resonates decades later.

All-4-One is best known for chart-topping hits like “I Swear,” “So Much in Love,” and “I Can Love You Like That.” Their sound, emotional, polished, and harmony-driven, made them a staple of mid-’90s radio and a perfect fit for a moment as ceremonial as the national anthem before a Sunday Night Football showdown.

The group is made up of four members: Jamie Jones, Delicious Kennedy, Alfred Nevarez, and Tony Borowiak. All four hail from California’s Antelope Valley and Mojave areas, giving their performance at Levi’s Stadium a distinctly home-state feel. Their journey as a group began thanks to producers Tim O’Brien and Gary St. Clair, who played an important role in bringing the quartet together.

Originally, Jones, Borowiak, and Nevarez were singing radio jingles for Antelope Valley station KAVS-FM. That local work unexpectedly opened a big door when Gary St. Clair asked them to record “So Much in Love” for Blitzz Records, an Atlantic Records affiliate.

The trio then brought in Delious Kennedy, completing the quartet that would become All-4-One. What was supposed to be a one-off single turned into something much bigger when the song became a hit, leading to a full debut album produced by O’Brien and St. Clair.

Their anthem performance will lay down a place for a game that could feel like a playoff preview. Chicago, led by quarterback Caleb Williams, has built a reputation for pulling off improbable wins and enters Week 17 having already landed a playoff spot.

On the other sideline, the 49ers are just as dangerous. San Francisco sits at No. 5 in the NFC after a big Week 16 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Since Brock Purdy returned from a toe injury, the 49ers are a perfect 5-0.
