Shedeur Sanders’ draft stock is one of the hottest storylines to watch as the 2025 NFL Draft creeps closer and closer. The high-profile quarterback, considered one of the top ones in this draft class, has been a polarizing name amid rumors of him going as high as the No. 3 pick or as low as No. 21.
The New York Giants own the No. 3 pick and need a franchise quarterback for the future. The team fanned the flames when they hosted Sanders on a private workout session just a week before draft night. With the post-workout opinions forming, ESPN’s Adam Schefter strongly believes Sanders won’t be landing in New York.
Adam Schefter on Why the Giants Will Not Pick Shedeur Sanders
In a recent interview with ESPN Radio, Schefter revealed that he doesn’t feel positive about the Giants and Sanders happening at pick No. 3. The plugged-in reporter buttressed his comments by saying he wouldn’t “rule out” Sanders somehow ending up in New York.
“I think right now, that seems to be one of the early pivot points of the draft, and best I can tell, my guess today would be that they’re not going to take him at three,” Schefter said. “But I will tell you that there are people out there who still maintain that they think he’s going to be the pick. I don’t, but I also am not ruling it out.”

That said, Schefter underlined that his opinion might change in the coming days, especially with the chaotic intel coming in last-minute. There could be a scenario where the Giants pass on Sanders in Round 1 and later trade up for him.
“Things are fluid,” Schefter said. “As we sit here today, my guess would be that Shedeur does not go number three, that it’s another pick, and that the Giants could be in play on him. Later in the first round, trading back, maybe in the second round. We’ll see how it goes.”Â
With No. 3 hypothetically out of the question, the New Orleans Saints could become the next most likely landing spot for the quarterback. The Saints hold the No. 9 pick and need a quarterback following the recent news that Derek Carr is dealing with an injury.
Would the Saints take a stab at Sanders? Times-Picayune columnist Jeff Duncan doesn’t believe the Colorado standout will land in New Orleans.
Duncan said: “I’m not sure who the Saints are going to pick at No. 9 on Thursday night. But I think I can safely say that it won’t be Shedeur Sanders.”
Former Penn State Standout Buzzing the Most With the Giants
PFSN’s 2025 NFL Draft predicts the Giants to go with Carter at No. 3, mainly because of Kayvon Thibodeaux’s fifth-year option decision looming. Carter could fit seamlessly in a Giants’ defense in desperate need of pass rushers and prove deadly when paired up with Brian Burns and Dexter Lawrence II.
