Adam Sandler didn’t hold back when it came to backing his Happy Gilmore 2 co-star Bad Bunny’s massive moment at Super Bowl 60. Fresh off working with the Puerto Rican superstar in the Netflix sequel, Sandler made his thoughts clear on the halftime show that drew too much controversy.

Adam Sandler Backs Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl 60 Halftime Show

Speaking postgame, the actor made his feelings unmistakably clear, offering full-throated praise for his longtime friend after one of the most talked-about performances in recent Super Bowl history.

“Benito was unbelievable. Loose, happy, made everybody ecstatic. I loved it and congrats to the Bunny,” Sandler said.

It wasn’t rehearsed praise or polite celebrity speak — it was genuine admiration from someone who’s watched Bad Bunny up close, on and off the stage.

Bunny’s halftime show leaned heavily into reggaeton, Latin trap, and Caribbean rhythms, celebrating Puerto Rican culture on one of the world’s biggest stages. The performance sparked conversation instantly, drawing both praise and criticism, which made Sandler’s reaction stand out even more.

The two grew close while working together on Happy Gilmore 2, and Sandler has repeatedly spoken about Bad Bunny as more than just a global superstar. He’s called him a “great human being” in the past and often points to the joy and energy Benito brings into every room.

That joy, Sandler suggested, translated directly to the Super Bowl 60 stage. The looseness. The happiness. The sense that the performer was fully himself, not shrinking to fit expectations. It’s part of why the show resonated so strongly with fans — and why Sandler didn’t feel the need to overthink his reaction.

While others debated language, politics, or tradition, Sandler kept it simple. Even President Donald Trump didn’t hold back.

“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.”

The POTUS went on to describe the show as a “slap” to the country. However, Sandler maintained his stance pretty clearly. And coming from someone who knows both the spotlight and the pressure of massive stages, that support carried weight. Sandler wasn’t commenting as a pundit or critic. He was reacting as a fan, a collaborator, and a friend.
