The Washington Commanders cannot be happy with how their 2025 season went. After making the NFC Championship game in 2024, the Commanders fell flat on their face last season. Many of their issues stemmed from injuries, but the front office also wanted to address a lack of talent this offseason. The Commanders entered the offseason with plenty of cap space and used it all effectively. Commanders general manager Adam Peters has had his work cut out for him since free agency opened on Monday, and he has been on a heater.
Washington Commanders Have Been Among the Most Aggressive Teams in Free Agency
Peters and company had no interest in sitting on their hands during free agency. They have been aggressive, and it will likely pay off for them during the season. The most recent of their signings was running back Rachaad White.
This was an interesting move, as White joins a backfield with second-year player Jacory Croskey-Merritt. One reason the Commanders targeted White is his connection with quarterback Jayden Daniels. They were teammates at Arizona State in college, and their 2021 season together was special.
According to PFSN, Daniels and White combined for 1,716 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns in that 2021 season.

Could the Commanders pursue another former Sun Devil in Brandon Aiyuk? 👀 https://t.co/3dgI65UH9t pic.twitter.com/smOpTjtkcm

White will likely split time with Croskey-Merritt, but his value as a pass catcher is what should keep him on the field for third downs. Many people are impressed with this move by the Commanders.
NFL analyst John Frascella said, “Adam Peters been on a heater,” when referring to all the signings he has made this offseason.

Other signings include Odafe Oweh, Leo Chenal, K’Lavon Chaisson, and Nick Cross. Most of the help they’ve received has been on defense, and they should be much better on that side of the ball. Many Commanders fans were frustrated with Peters for not signing anyone in the first hour of free agency, yet he made up for it.
NFL analyst Grant Paulsen said, “Adam Peters sure has done a nice job over the last few days for a guy who was getting destroyed for not signing anybody in the first 72 minutes of free agency.”

Even though most of the top free agents are signed in the first few hours, there are plenty of great values later on. Peters filled many of the holes on defense, but he still has some work to do on the offensive side of the ball.
According to George Carmi, Peters has had a great free agency so far but still has needs to fill at center, wide receiver, and left guard. Carmi said, “Adam Peters has added a great free agent class. Full stop. Yes, there are still needs on the roster, namely C, WR, LG.”

But Peters attempted to address them (Pierce, and Linderbaum).
Raiders overpaid. Pierce wanted to stay in Indy.
I expect WSH to still add Brandon Aiyuk… pic.twitter.com/FNfLwT459q

Two Commanders players linked to the Team are wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings. It seems likely they end up with at least one of those players, with Aiyuk having more upside and a connection to Daniels, as they were both at Arizona State in 2019.
If Peters can land one of these wide receivers, the Commanders have to be on the short list of teams having the best offseason.
