In his 2024 NFL Mock Draft, NFL insider Adam Caplan has the Miami Dolphins going the offensive tackle route, taking Jordan Morgan at No. 21 overall. If general manager Chris Grier and the Dolphins don’t trade out of their pick, would offensive line be an area of need in the first round, and would Morgan be a good fit?
Who Is Jordan Morgan?
Just 22 years of age, Morgan, was a senior this past season for the Arizona Wildcats. Having been on Arizona’s roster since 2019, Morgan started all 12 games at left tackle this past season for the Wildcats.
Durability, of course, is key, and Morgan carries that strength over to the next level.
He comes in at 6’5″ and 325 pounds. Comparing his measurables to Terron Armstead’s, they both have the same height, but Morgan is 21 pounds heavier.
Now, of course, there will be concerns about an offensive tackle or guard entering the draft. However, if Morgan were to land in Miami, he would be in excellent hands working with Dolphins offensive line coach Butch Barry.
Despite injuries throughout the season at each spot on the offensive line, Barry took the unit to great heights.
If you take a look at Miami’s current left tackle situation in Armstead, a five-time Pro-Bowler, he’s had a tough time staying healthy on a consistent basis during his first two seasons under HC Mike McDaniel.
When he’s on the field protecting QB Tua Tagovailoa, however, Armstead has been, for the most part, excellent. He signed a five-year contract in March 2022 and is entering the third year of that deal prior to the start of the 2024 season.
So why does the great Caplan believe the Dolphins will draft Morgan in the opening round this upcoming April?
“With starting LT Terron Armstead carrying a salary cap hit of over $20 million for 2024, the future of the position must be addressed,” Caplan said.
In addition, Miami already has tons of questions to figure out in relation to the salary cap.
A couple of days after the Dolphins’ 2023 season ended in single-digit temperatures against Kansas City, Armstead met with local media members to briefly discuss the season and future with the organization, as well.
David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported on Jan. 15 that Armstead “will have retirement to consider.”

Armstead turns 33 this upcoming July and having a younger body at left tackle may be a route the Dolphins are willing to explore.
