Now that Aaron Rodgers has officially signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, things are finally taking shape. The last major quarterback available on the market has arrived to potentially save a season that, until now, lacked a trustworthy presence under center. With him, the team can now aim higher than in recent years.
However, Rodgers’ prime is behind him, and his last stint with the New York Jets didn’t go as planned. During a press conference, a reporter asked Rodgers about the differences between the two environments, curious if anything stood out in Pittsburgh compared to his former team. The veteran quarterback wasn’t too happy with the question.
Aaron Rodgers Drifts Away From Question Comparing Jets and Steelers
Among all NFL players, there may be no one quite like Rodgers when it comes to dealing with the media. Known for always speaking his mind, especially regarding his personal beliefs and convictions, Rodgers often finds himself at the center of controversy, which in turn shapes the way reporters interact with him.
Fully aware that the quarterback hasn’t hidden his frustrations and openly addressed his rocky exit from New York, including a reported fallout with newly appointed head coach Aaron Glenn, one reporter asked if he had noticed any differences between the two organizations.
Rodgers, however, didn’t take kindly to the question and deflected it sharply.
“I’m not going to take shots at my previous organization, if that’s what you’re trying to get me to do,” Rodgers said.

Shortly after, Rodgers followed up his response by focusing only on the positives that led him to sign with the Steelers. He did this without disparaging his time with the Jets or taking shots at anyone involved with the franchise. Instead of stirring up unnecessary drama, the quarterback chose to move forward with his new team.
Now in Pittsburgh, Rodgers has the opportunity to write a final, meaningful chapter in his career and add to his legacy. Dwelling on the past won’t help; there’s a new system to learn, chemistry to build with teammates, and a clear mission ahead.
Pittsburgh hasn’t won a playoff game since 2016 and was unable to be seriously threatening in any of their last four postseason appearances. Head coach Mike Tomlin has faced growing criticism for not making bold enough moves, risking his streak of non-losing seasons without producing real playoff success.
In the end, Rodgers will have the chance to answer any lingering questions about his time with the Jets on the field. Pittsburgh will open the season against New York, a matchup that also marks Justin Fields’ reunion against his former team, in what promises to be one of the best games of the NFL’s 2025 opening weekend.
