The Aaron Rodgers saga has been one of the most entertaining and frustrating storylines in the 2025 NFL offseason. Rodgers has talked to multiple teams, but his only legitimate option is the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The four-time MVP continues to drag his feet about playing in 2025, but the focus has turned to a ring Rodgers was wearing at the Kentucky Derby. One of his long-time Green Bay Packers teammates recently went on “The Pat McAfee Show” and discussed what the ring on the veteran quarterback’s finger could mean.
AJ Hawk Discusses Aaron Rodgers’ Ring
Rodgers remains on the street despite a “positive” in-house meeting with the Steelers soon after the NFL league year began. Pittsburgh is essentially the only team still looking for a veteran starting quarterback, and they left the door open for the 20-year veteran after waiting until the sixth round to draft a signal-caller.
The 10-time Pro Bowler is coming off one of his worst statistical seasons, throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 2024. Rodgers was coming off a torn Achilles and looked better late in the season, but it was too late for the New York Jets’ playoff hopes.
Rodgers finished No. 21 in PFSN’s QB+ metric last season. He’s an enigma at this stage of his career, seemingly wanting teams to operate on his terms rather than conform to the organization.
His friend and former Green Bay teammate, AJ Hawk, is a co-host on “The Pat McAfee Show” and has been the former Indianapolis Colts punter’s go-to guy for Rodgers updates. Hawk and Rodgers were Packers together from 2006 to 2014, and still hang out often.
Rodgers has routinely taken a larger group of friends and former teammates to the Kentucky Derby, and 2025 was no different. Hawk was part of this year’s group, and the quarterback’s new jewelry was the talk of the town.
McAfee asked, “Is Aarong Rodgers married? Was that a wedding party you guys had down there?”

Hawk replied, “It was not a wedding party from what we knew, but yeah, all of us were a bit surprised [when] we showed up as well. To tell you the truth, I don’t really know. I don’t know if I have any answers for ya when it comes to that situation. He’s very private and mysterious when it comes to things like that, and this is definitely one of them for sure.
“He seems very happy. He is doing very well. He looks good physically, mentally. Not a lot of clarity on this situation. I’m not gonna lie.”
Rodgers has recently appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and discussed what he’s been doing since being released by the Jets. He’s never gone into much detail, but has been handling “personal business” that has delayed his decision about whether he’ll play. Could getting married be that “personal business”?
