Now that the NFL Draft is over, most teams have a good idea of what their rosters will look like for the 2026 season. Most of the top free agents have signed, and some of the players left without teams are older and looking for the right situation. Of all the players still waiting to sign, Aaron Rodgers is the one to watch out for.
Many thought he would be heading back to Pittsburgh or retiring. However, another team has entered the mix to sign him.
Colin Cowherd Believes the Arizona Cardinals Could Be Interested in Aaron Rodgers
One team that is sneaking under the radar as a potential fit for Rodgers is the Arizona Cardinals. They are in desperate need of a quarterback, but Rodgers may not be the guy they are looking for.
There is no question that the Cardinals are a rebuilding team in 2026, and that is likely something Rodgers does not want to be a part of in his final season. However, Colin Cowherd made a few interesting points as to why they could be a fit.
Cowherd said this on his show, “The Herd“:
“If I’m Aaron Rodgers and I get to go to an offensive coach, now I’ve got (Jeremiyah) Love and two other backs, I’ve got Trey McBride, a top-three tight end, they addressed the offensive line, I’ve got excellent receiver help, and by the way, I have a place in Malibu, I’m not a Pittsburgh guy…I think Arizona is absolutely in play. I think they have sneaky good offensive talent.”
There is no question that the Cardinals’ biggest issue is their quarterback play. That is what many expect to hold them back in 2026. But they also have the difficult task of playing in the toughest division in football.
The Seahawks, Rams, and 49ers all made the playoffs last season, with Seattle winning the Super Bowl. Even with Rodgers, the Cardinals still seem like a good bet to finish last in that division.
Cardinals QB Outlook
It would be strange for the Cardinals to even want Rodgers, as they already have veteran quarterbacks on their roster in Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew.
Adding a quarterback who is older than the other two does not seem to make much sense for a team hoping to land a top-five draft pick next season.
Whoever is starting at quarterback for the Cardinals will likely be a one-year stopgap until they draft a new quarterback in the 2027 NFL Draft.

That draft class is expected to be loaded with quarterback talent, and the Cardinals would be wise to land someone who can become the face of their franchise.
It will be interesting to see where Rodgers ends up this offseason, but whoever gets him should be prepared for an aging quarterback whose physical skills are mostly diminished.
