After a legendary career defined by four MVP awards and a Super Bowl ring with the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers is on a new team but staring down a familiar opponent. Now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the iconic quarterback will have his first-ever opportunity to face his former franchise in a highly anticipated Week 8 matchup during the 2025 season.
The Steelers are set to host the Packers for Sunday Night Football, and while the game won’t be at Lambeau Field, Rodgers will undoubtedly be the primary focus in Green Bay this week.
What NFL History Can Aaron Rodgers Make Against the Green Bay Packers?
According to Matt Schneidman on X, a Packers beat reporter for The Athletic, Rodgers made the surprise decision to address the Green Bay media via Zoom on Thursday. While it is uncommon for an opposing quarterback to speak with a team’s local media before a game, the situation with Rodgers is a special case. He is one of the greatest players in the Packers’ history, so lining up against them for the first time brings a new level of anticipation.

Beyond the reunion, Rodgers has a rare opportunity to join an elite list of NFL quarterbacks who have defeated all 32 teams. He can achieve this milestone if his Pittsburgh Steelers win against Green Bay in Week 8.
Having already beaten the 31 other teams, the Packers are the only franchise missing from his list. This Sunday will be his first chance to change that and become just the fifth quarterback to defeat every team in the league.
Currently, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady are the only members of this exclusive club. Accomplishing the feat requires playing for multiple teams, as the previous four quarterbacks have done. Favre was the first to complete the task, while Brady was the most recent.

Rodgers spent the first 18 years of his career with the Packers before playing for the New York Jets for the past two seasons. In his first year with the Steelers, he gets his shot to add Green Bay to his list of defeated opponents.
However, it will not be easy, as the Packers are currently the favorites to win. The matchup will be played in Pittsburgh, which could give Rodgers and his team an advantage as they look to bounce back from a disappointing loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last week.

So, what was his surprise decision? That’s the headline, but nowhere does it say what this decision is….I hate when reporters do this!
That he will address the Green Bay media this week. Rare for an opposing QB.
