A.J. Brown Sends Cryptic Post Amid Early-Season Struggles

After another tough week in the 2025 NFL season, Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown sent a cryptic post on X that could concern some fans.

Despite a 4-0 start to the 2025 NFL season for the Philadelphia Eagles, the offense has not been the smoothest. While the rushing attack has found its footing, the passing game has struggled to find momentum, specifically wide receiver A.J. Brown, who’s had one big game through four weeks.

Following another quiet outing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4, the Eagles’ three-time Second-team All-Pro posted a bible verse on social media that caused concern for some fans.

What Did Philadelphia WR A.J. Brown Say Amid His Early Season Struggles?

After a massive performance against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3, where Brown caught six passes for 109 yards and a touchdown, he put up another dud in Week 4, catching just two of his nine targets for seven yards.

While the first two weeks can be chalked up to limited opportunities, that cannot be said for the Buccaneers game, where Eagles QB Jalen Hurts targeted Brown nine times. Playing a full 60 minutes has been a challenge for Philadelphia, as the Buccaneers came storming back in the second half, and the Eagles couldn’t complete a pass.

Following the tough outing, Brown posted a bible verse from the Gospel of Mark, 6:11, which reads, “If you’re not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way.”

The verse comes from when Jesus instructed his disciples to preach the gospel. They were to leave without issue if they encountered places that rejected them. This is far from the first cryptic tweet Brown has shared during his time with the Eagles. However, given his lack of production, some fans wonder if the post could reflect his wishes to ask for a trade sooner rather than later.

While the Eagles’ passing attack was up and down in 2024, Brown was vital to the unit, hauling in 67 passes for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns. Despite missing four games, he replicated his production from his first two seasons in Philadelphia. It will take quite the uptick in catches to catch up to that pace with the way the beginning of the season has gone for Brown.

His frustration makes sense for a receiver with his proven talent, but he’s also voiced his displeasure in the way the offense has been run in the past without resorting to a trade request. It will be interesting to see how Browns moves forward amid a tough start to the season despite his squad’s positive four-game win streak.
