The Philadelphia Eagles stunned the football world by defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX, capturing their second championship in franchise history.
Now, as the team prepares to chase what no NFL franchise has accomplished since the New England Patriots in 2003-2004, general manager Howie Roseman continues building for both the present and future.
With Dallas Goedert’s long-term status uncertain following his recent contract restructure, the Eagles may turn to the 2026 NFL Draft to find their next offensive weapon.
Eagles Select TE Max Klare in This 2026 Mock Draft
With the No. 32 overall pick in the latest NFL mock draft from PFSN Analyst Joe DeLeone, Philadelphia could address a potential future need at tight end by selecting Ohio State’s Max Klare.
While Goedert reworked his contract to remain with the Eagles through the 2025 season, his status beyond next year remains uncertain. The veteran tight end accepted a pay cut from $14 million to $10 million, signaling that both sides understand this arrangement may be temporary.
🎯 Ohio State TE Max Klare can be TE1 in the 2026 NFL Draft
Klare’s seamlessly athletic route running & open field play making at Purdue was my “favorite” tape of the position group. Increased exposure & blocking development will 📈the current Day 2 TE https://t.co/IvZOOZ8VN7 pic.twitter.com/tIqq8r9tk2

In this mock draft projection, Klare becomes the first tight end off the board, with wide receivers being selected at picks 27 and 28. The significant gap between Klare and the next tight end shows his elite status in this class. Kenyon Sadiq, projected to go 53rd overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, doesn’t come off the board until the second round, highlighting the substantial talent drop-off after Klare.
From Purdue Struggles to National Championship Contender
After enduring a disastrous 1-11 season at Purdue, Klare made the strategic decision to transfer to Ohio State, where he joins the defending national champions.
The Buckeyes captured their ninth national title in January 2025, defeating Notre Dame 34-23 in the College Football Playoff championship game. This move positions Klare to showcase his talents on college football’s biggest stage while potentially catching the attention of Super Bowl champion Philadelphia.
Despite playing for a struggling Purdue offense, Klare emerged as the team’s most consistent weapon. He led the Boilermakers in receiving in seven of their 12 games, an impressive feat for any tight end, particularly on a team that struggled to generate consistent offensive production.
Klare’s standout performance came against Illinois on Oct. 12, when he hauled in six catches for a career-high 133 yards in a heartbreaking 50-49 overtime loss. His 62-yard reception in that game showcased the big-play ability that makes him such an intriguing prospect for NFL teams. The performance demonstrated his ability to create separation and make plays downfield, traits that translate well to the professional level.
Throughout the 2024 season, Klare displayed remarkable consistency despite Purdue’s offensive struggles. He recorded at least two receptions in every game and finished with five or more catches in six contests, including the season’s final three games. However, the Boilermakers’ offensive woes limited his touchdown production to just four scores, as the team failed to find the end zone in three games against top-10 opponents.
Those shutout losses came against Oregon (35-0), Ohio State (45-0), and Indiana (66-0), highlighting the massive talent gap Klare faced while competing in the Big Ten. His ability to produce despite facing elite defenses and playing without consistent quarterback play only reinforces his potential at the next level.
For the Eagles, adding a talent like Klare would provide insurance at a crucial position while giving quarterback Jalen Hurts another reliable target. Rather than searching for an aging veteran in free agency, Philadelphia could develop Klare behind Goedert before potentially handing him the starting role in 2027.
His combination of athleticism, route-running ability, and proven production against top competition makes him exactly the type of prospect the Eagles have successfully developed in recent years.
