Alexandra Eala vs Maya Joint Preview

Maya Joint (19) and Alexandra Eala (20) are all set to compete in the women’s singles final at the Eastbourne Open. This would mark the youngest combined-age final at the tournament since 1981. World No. 51 Maya Joint paved her way through the draw with wins over Ons Jabeur (7-5, 6-2), Emma Raducanu (4-6, 6-1, 7‑6(4)), and Anna Blinkova (6-4, 7-5).

Despite starting as a qualifier, Eala created history by becoming the first player from the Philippines to reach a WTA Tour final after a commendable 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 win over Varvara Gracheva.

Joint has had a decent 2025 season so far, winning 17 out of 27 main-draw matches. The teenager won her maiden WTA singles title at the Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem in Rabat.

Eala, on the other hand, defeated Jelena Ostapenko, Madison Keys, and Iga Swiatek to reach the Miami Open semifinals in March.

Alexandra Eala vs Maya Joint Head-to-Head

Maya Joint and Alexandra Eala have never met before on the professional circuit, so their head-to-head is currently locked at 0-0.

Alexandra Eala vs Maya Joint Prediction

Alexandra Eala showcased an impressive adaptation to grass by winning four matches at Eastbourne after qualifying. This also included a dominant 6‑1, 6‑2 quarterfinal win over Dayana Yastremska in a match where she broke her rival’s serve seven times and won 68.2 % of return points. The 20-year-old’s left‑handed game and two‑handed backhand allow her to generate sharp angles and penetrate low slices.

Maya Joint, on the other hand, is inexperienced on grass with only a 4–2 record in 2025 (and just her second career grass match-win before Eastbourne). Her aggressive baseline playing style helps her rely on power and depth but is still adjusting to the speed and bounce of turf.

Joint’s season has been strong with a 27-17 win-loss record in main-draw matches. The Aussie loves to play aggressively and will look to attack from the start of the match. Eala has an attacking style as well, along with a good return.

Both players will be high on confidence entering the match and Joint might have an edge considering the fact that she has played a lot more on the WTA Tour. That said, Eala is a rising talent and if she maintains her momentum, there is a fair chance of her coming out on top.

Prediction: Eala to win in three sets.
