Running back Saquon Barkley has undoubtedly made his mark on the NFL. The 28-year-old is coming off the best season of his career after leaving the New York Giants and signing a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Barkley not only had his personal best season, but he was a major contributor in the Eagles’ successful Super Bowl run. Now, Barkley is sharing exactly what feels about his contributions to that incredible season.

His deal with the Eagles was a massive one, considering his position is so undervalued in the league. However, Barkley showed the world his worth and the value of having a game-changing running back on an offense.
During the 2024 season, Barkley set multiple NFL records, including the most rushing yards (2,504) and most scrimmage yards (2,857) in a single season, earning him the NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award.
He recently joined YouTube golfing sensation Grant Horvat on the links to talk about his success. Barkley asked Horvat if he is “big in his faith, Christian,” and the golfer confirmed that he is. He said that he finds his journey with God “amazing” and is glad to be able to share it with others.
Barkley shared about his recent journey to find God. “I just became a Christian not too long ago,” he said. “I feel like, for me, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the best year I had in my career, I found my faith. It gives me some clarity.”

Horvat said he does not doubt that Barkley is achieving even more than before because of his faith in God. He said he wants to help those who are struggling with direction in their life, or who wonder what their purpose is. Barkley said that for him, living his life for God has given him direction.
Barkley commended him on “doing it the right way” by using his platform to help spread God’s love with others.

Barkley shared that he felt disrespected by the Giants during their contract negotiations despite what an asset he’d been to the team. He won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award in 2018 and was a two-time Pro Bowler. He earned a third nod in 2024, along with All-Pro recognition.
The Eagles wanted to make sure he knew how they felt about his contributions. Philadelphia offered him an early extension worth two years and $41.2 million, which included $36 million guaranteed. All of that makes Barkley the highest-paid running back in NFL history.
Now, the Eagles and Barkley are hoping to run it back after the 2025 season and win rare back-to-back Super Bowls.
I love that Barkley Is now a Christian and has direction an purpose in his life. That is fantastic. Praise the Lord! However, there are many other Christians who are strong in their faith who are giving their all but do not achieve the same success. It does not mean God has rejected them or doesn’t like them as much as He likes Barkley or any of that kind of nonsense that people sometimes think. Faith is wonderful and helpful but it is no guarantee of on field or vocational success. Faith in Jesus does give you peace amid the storms of life if you let it.
