How Can Jaire Alexander Help the Ravens Reach the Super Bowl This Season?
Since Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson’s breakout season in 2019, the Ravens’ Super Bowl window has been open. They have been in the AFC Championship game, but haven’t been able to get past that point.
In the last two seasons, Baltimore came close to finally making the Super Bowl. Mistakes, though, cost them in those championship games.
Defensively, the Ravens haven’t had such a talented roster since Jackson joined the team. Baltimore’s investment in Alexander sends a clear message that the franchise believes this is the year to go all-in for a title run.
NFL Network analyst Cameron Wolfe analyzed the situation on “The Insiders.” Wolfe emphasized that for the Ravens’ defense to reach its full potential, both Alexander and the unit as a whole must stay healthy.

“The Ravens can be special,” Wolfe said. “They can be one of those elite defenses we talk about again. But a lot of it’s going to depend on health.
“Jaire Alexander has been a No. 1 cornerback for most of his career, but he’s only played 14 combined games over the last two years,” Wolfe said. “That’s why they got him on a little bit of a discount.”
Alexander was released by the Green Bay Packers and became available on the NFL free agency market. Why? Alexander’s lack of availability over the past two seasons, which made the high value of his contract no longer affordable for Green Bay.
When healthy, Alexander is one of the best at his position and joins a secondary that already features Marlon Humphrey, Nate Wiggins, Kyle Hamilton, and added Malaki Starks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
It’s one of the deepest groups in the NFL, capable of shutting down opponents’ passing games thanks to the versatility each player brings to the Baltimore defense.
“This year, they’re going to have a little more creativity because Malaki Starks, who they drafted in the first round, can play free safety, allowing Kyle Hamilton to go back to being that chess piece again,” Wolfe said.
“Now you’ve got Jaire Alexander and Nate Wiggins on the outside, allowing Marlon Humphrey to play in the slot, where he played his best last year,” Wolfe said. “I think this Ravens team can be really special because of these improvements.”
The Ravens are projected to win 12 games in 2025 and finish with the second-best record in the AFC. What’s the key to a deeper playoff run for Baltimore? A more consistent season from start to finish and minimize individual mistakes when the most important moments arrive.
